<div class="IPBDescription">keeping the game a challenge</div> Many players have found it very hard for the marines to win since NS 2.0 - I usually get some cigarette breaks when I play alien, while the marine team cannot afford too many mistakes.
So when a new round is starting or has just begun, please try to follow these hints:
Most important, unless proved otherwise by the player kills/skills, PLEASE JOIN THE MARINE TEAM ! Do not outnumber the marines. Remember, one of them sits in the chair - he cannot fight. A gorge can.
Also, when players leave the game (traitors) within the first few minutes, it's not a shame to change teams!
4 Marines against 3 Aliens - fair
3 Marines against 4 Aliens - not fair
A quick peek into the observer mode will most of the time tell you if a team is currently winning. 3v4 may very well be fair. Anyway, DONT BE A WINNING TEAM JOINER.
Also, skulkrushing tends to lose its appeal after 5 times in a row. Let them build up a bit, or even let them kill you once or twice. Keep the game exiting and challenging for both teams.
Thank you

I find that to be the exact opposite where I play. Marines win almost 90% of the time on one server, and at least 60% on another server I play on. The times I see marines losing, it is usually the comm's fault (elecing nodes, building mini tf farms, etc.). However, I do agree that people should try to keep the teams even, as it insure a much better game, even if you end up losing.

That statement is true, but if you look at in on a larger picture.
11 marines vs 10 aliens = super-unfair
10 aliens vs 11 aliens = still-unfair
Ps. Unfair for the aliens that is.
All the resources the marines get (resources for kills, resource towers) all go into one resource pool for the commander to use, and this resource pool will multiply at an extremely alarming rate in large games, and vice versa in small games.
While on the other hand, the aliens resources are divided seperately between all aliens and all resources from kills are kept to the alien who made the kill. In large games, this can cause a serious problem when many of the aliens refuse to build leaving the rest of the team without the ability to advance up the evolution tree. However, in small games, the resources get divided up between a small group of players and their resources will increase quickly even if the alien team only has two or three resource towers.
*sigh* if only...
