When i go through half-life (or ASE) to start a server, i hit Create Game *non-dedicated* (basically for me to learn the game)..anyway, i hit create game, console shows up like in CS/TFC, but, as the console slides away, it stops, the soft dingdong noise freezes and replays, then i get an error in hl.exe (client.dll) and it crashes to my desktop. that's not the only thing, but when it crashes to my desktop my desktop has this weird brightness to it and seems like its only in 16 colors..i dont know what you would call it. Anyway, i don't understand why i can create games with CS, TFC, but not in NS without being errored out and crashing the game. Any suggestions? i tried that blank text file valve.rc, but that only caused more problems. So, <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->

if needed..

running latest patches for both NS and Half Life..
Windows XP PRO, SP2, latest updates
1.6ghz, 512mb ram AMD XP

i can join servers fine and play perfectly fine, i just cannot create a game without that error/crashing to desktop.

NS 2.01 would always crash on me if I created a listenserver. I know that doesn't help but atleast you're not alone, right?

the brightness is caused by the (ugh) gamma reset of NS. you can get rid of it by running ResetGamma.exe located somewhere in the NS mod folder (I think?).

    Just do a search.

    Thanks for the gamma tip...

anyway, problem was fixed by un-installing all copies of NS, then doing a clean install of the latest version. Thanks anyway.
