Half-life Battlechess

<div class="IPBDescription">I need this made.</div> It occurred to me the other day that I can play chess in my Nokia 5100. This revived my long lost interest in the game, especially since the 64k java-application still beats me almost every time <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo--> . I first learned chess with my dad's 286 AT 10 MHz (really kicked **** those days), there was a game called Battlechess where the animated chess characters beat the hell out of each other. I still remember how the tower turned into a rocky monster and just plain ate the ***** =). The queen killed the king by first hugging her and then stabbing her at his back. So at this point I realized that Half Life would be a great platform for a chess game. HL + Battlechess = a real hit! Tons of players online to play with would make it one. It cant be too hard to make the code and the artificial intelligence for it but the models would have to be good. This idea is free for use for anyone who would like to make this.

You know, it'd be far quicker to find a copy of battlechess or similar than wait the five or six months it would take for someone to code it.

I still remember Quess. Same principal really, except it was for Quake. Oh, it was buggy as hell and not really fun either.

Neverwinter Nights has a <a href='http://nwn.bioware.com/downloads/module_nwnchess.html' target='_blank'>free official chess module</a>. I haven't tried it myself, but apparently it doesn't come with AI, you have to play vs. another person online. You still get to see pieces beating each other up, though.

Thanks for the links. That NWN-chess sounds pretty interesting... Anyone got a DOS-emulator in mind for playing Battlechess with win 2k?

Battle Chess II rocked even more; even though it's actually Chinese Chess, you've got to check that one out - the animations for that one were even more hilarious.

although it takes quite some CPU, and not all games are supported. I think Battlechess is however.

Hey, this is great! The nostalgy feeling is perfect. Allthough I still would like the HL-version, some on-line chess combats with **** whipping 3d graphics... well, maybe someday
