    Lets see about this list here (done previously, but lets see again)

    Rainbow Six 3 -Port, much better on the PC really and is a bit dated now.
    Pirates of the Carribean- This game is distinctly average, also ported.
    Knights of the Old Republic- On PC with several improvements, though the UI is clearly made for an X-Box.
    Counter-Strike- The PC version will always be the one true CS here <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> Free on PC too, or you could get it for $5.
    Deus Ex: Invisible War- Pretty poor game overall especially compared to the original. Ported on PC (being improved).
    Halo- Ported to PC, not that wonderful
    Amped 2- Tis an ok game really, but not wonderful.
    Brute Force- This is a good game, surprisingly good too.
    Spawn- This game was really pretty crap <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
    Midnight Club II- Shocking game really, also a port.
    Project Gotham Racing II- Brilliant game this one, especially if you play it on X-Box live.
    Ninja Gaiden- Not released (at least from what I remember).
    Unreal II- This game is just bad to begin with, if you have it on either PC or X-Box.
    Lord of the Rings games- On all consoles/PC.

    Notice how, going back to my previous post there is ONE RPG and no survival horror or platformers in this?

    Sonic Heroes- Multiplatform, may or may not be good. Sonic 2 Battle was pretty abysmal.
    Mafia- On PC already
    The Fast and Furious- Multiplatform, probably going to suck especially in the light of PGR2.
    Starcraft: Ghost- Multiplatform.
    Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow- Being ported to PC
    James Bond 007: Everything or Nothing- Well, few of these have been genuinely decent.
    Top Gun Live- Haven't heard of it actually. May be alright.
    Halo 2- This certainly sounds like an awesome game, I just hope to god they don't copy and paste...
    Doom 3- Port, coming out after PC version and will look probably a LOT worse. Then again if you don't have the comp to run Doom 3, maybe a good option.
    Fight Club- Multiplatform, probably not going to be any good.
    Hitman: Contracts- PC, multiplatform.
    Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided- This game is terrible as it is, I feel sorry for whoever buys it.
    Star Wars: Battlefront- Haven't heard of this, may be pretty neat.
    Star Wars: Republic Commando- Ditto.

    In that entire list you posted, there is only 2-3 good X-Box games that are actually EXCLUSIVE there. Not a very good start <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Incidently, I would of added to your first list Panzer Dragoon Orta and to the second list Jade Empire.

    You know, exclusive games that are awesome or have the real potential to be awesome. Jade Empire is an exclusive X-Box RPG made by the makers of KotoR btw.

    What the crap, did I click the title and sucked into a GameFaqs thread? Seriously, most of you are acting like children.

    This should have been a thread about the Merits of Xbox. NOT how much better the PS2 is, NOT broad generalizations on the games, and certainly not name calling and blind fan boy ism.

    Now then...
    The Xbox is nice. There are plenty of AAA games to keep you occupied (Halo, Crimson Skies, JSRF, PGR2, DDR Ultramix, MechAssault, Splinter Cell, and so on.) The best thing about it is the existence of Xbox Live. Many of these games are on PC, but that doesn't decrease their value as Xbox titles. Theres something nice about 90% of players having a mic.

    If 2 of your friends got an Xbox, you have all the more reason. Grab a controller, head to his house for party gaming. The Xbox has a huge number of social games, all of them great fun. Party games get even better with the system link option. 16 player system games of Halo, Crimson Skies, PGR2... Its really the best.

    Remeber, you're buying to have fun. Don't be blinded by fanboys. The PS2 has a lot of great things going for it, but for me, X Box is a better system. Live, 4 controller ports, a great DDR version. It all comes together in an excellent package.

    Also, the S controller is worlds better then that original monstrosity. I prefer it over Dual Shock 2.

    Aeg-
    Why does 'exclusive' matter so damn much!? They all look better on Xbox (fact, not fanboyism.), have the potential for expanded multiplay, and Microsoft requires all multiplatform titles have Xbox only traits. If anything, the superiority of non-exclusive games for Xbox should be a sellign point!

    Dreamcast > all

    As an XboX fan, I say go for the Xbox. To adress some of the complaints of the people who don't like xbox:

    1: (Controller complaints) There are a multitude of controllers out there. Think the classic one is too big? Go for the controller s. It's smaller, and had a better button layout. If you have big hands like I do, stick with the standard controller. Plus there is a micro-sized one that is ~4 inches across if you have really small hands. And dozens of third-party controllers of various degrees of quality.

    2: (Multiplayer Complaints) To answer this, I direct your attention to the January 2004 issue of the Official XboX Magazine, page 14.<!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->A recent roundtable of editors voted 12 out of 15 to recommend the service over PS2 online.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->Now I'm a poor college student, and have not played on LIVE. However, 3 of my fellow Xbox-owning firends have all tried to convince me to get the service. And all have a serious live addiction. All I can say is it's on my Christmas wish list... joiiiiin uuuuusssss..... <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    3: (Games)
    a) Halo has been mentioned before. If you like it (as I do) it's a gift from the almighty god himself. If it's not up your alley, it's not. OXM rating: [9.5]
    b) Mechassault. A hard game to hate. Piloting that much walking metal gets a JPF ratingfrom me: Just Plain Fun. Plus it's 20$, or included in the Xbox Live starter kit. [9.3]
    c) GTA III & Vice City. In 720p & Widescreen. You can actually read signs and licence plate numbers. Can't do that on the PS2. [9.1]
    d) Deus Ex: Invisible War. Got a [9.1] by OXM, and one of the editors there is as big of a DX1 freak as I am. I'll update this if I get it as a gift for Christmas like I hope I do.
    e) Crimson Skys: High Road to Revenge. [9.2] A new standard in flight games, IMO.
    Coming soon:
    a) Halo 2. More weapons, vehicles, turrets, enemies, immersion, better AI... drool.
    b) Fable. The <i>Fable </i>world lives and breathes around me - and it ain't even playing it. The sensation from a magazine article! Anoter one I can't wait for.
    c) Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Pandora's Tomorrow. All my stealthy instincts will come to play at last. With friends. Online. Vs a team of FPS-stlye mercenary enemies (AKA: target practice with the new laser-sighted pistol). Booyah!
    d) Advent Rising. From the little-known Glyphx games, this one looks like it could be a blast. A legendary race of heros is about to be wiped out by an evil empire. The twist? Said heros are us humans, with psychic powers. Which means we can "levitate a bad guy, smash him onto some vertex-shaded grass, and whip out a gun to finish him off, all before popping into a house-sized proto-hummer and driving over the distant horizon."

    And many of those multiplatform games are also on PC, which looks much better FACT. Graphics aren't important, it is the games that are I'm afraid. That is why exclusives are important, obviously you don't pay very much attention do you?

    Care to name the X-Boxs match to games like Silent Hill 3? Wait, it DOESN'T HAVE ANY. Probably read peoples posts before actually responding to a topic.

    <!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->have the potential for expanded multiplay,<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

    With the obvious exceptions of Prince of Persia, Beyond Good and Evil, Spinter Cell and others. Of course, if you actually knew what you were talking about...

    Haha, that's a real joke right? Considering that PC ports aren't as good looking as the PC it originated from, and other ports are either similar or haven't bothered taking full advantage of specific hardware, your point is extremely moot.

    The difference is, you either take the non exclusives and a handful of fair and some very good exclusives, or you take it all with the likes of a PS2. IE, you have all the non exclusive games, and then you get all of the brilliant EXCLUSIVE games which the X-Box has NO match too (Once again, games like Ghosthunter, Sly Racoon etc).

    I .. didn't like Silent Hill III.. Perhaps it's because I don't scare easily. Anyway, that's beside the point really. I'd just like to give you my opinion and hope that it is helpful to you: The XBox has provided me with many, many hours of fun- and yes, the system does the graphics thing pretty well too. When KOTOR first came out (On Xbox about 4 months sooner than PC) I remember not sleeping for days because the game was so good and yeah, some people were envious of the opportunity to play that epic of a game on the Xbox. Was it the sole reason I bought an Xbox last Christmas? No, not really... I had heard good things about the growing Xbox Live! network (Waiting for broadband here, but I have been able to utilise the service with friends who also own the Xbox) as well as future games that were to be released. I'm glad I got that Xbox, I'm also glad they released the Controller S because now people with normal hands can enjoy the games with me. *Note* If you are a normal human without ape hands, buy the controller S.

    It is true that there are not many RPGs out for the system right now, but that's going to change eventually. (You still have Morrowind, Pirates of the Caribbean, the aforementioned KoTOR, the upcoming Jade Empire, and then not far off in Q1 of 2004: Fable.) I can honestly say that the game selection for Xbox is pretty crappy, but the gems the system does have really shine extra hard. Gladius (A recently released turn-based tactical RPG set in the Ancient-Rome styled land of Imperia) was fun and fairly addicting, but sometimes it got repetitive (After all, the visuals aren't really TOP notch and it does center around Gladitorial fights in which people don't die. =*( ) Freaky Flyers is one of the best games I've ever played. It is fun. That's all I really have to say about that.

    XBox has an excellent selection of sports games, while I am not a fan of them I have been able to enjoy a few games with friends that are sports savvy. Xbox Live! Sports also has a ladder system that keeps tracks of your official wins, when last I read up on it.

    I like GameCube and Playstation 2, as well as Xbox and I think PS2 was the most money-worthy of the time but I am still sticking to my guns and saying that the Xbox is a fine system. If you do buy it, I'm sure you'll find something that you can enjoy. Anyway, good luck with the shopping and have a happy holiday. I hope you are happy with whatever you decide.

    I'd just like to point one thing out if I may. The X-Box version of GTA 3 / Vice City does have much better graphics than the PC or PS2 varients. However I will agree on the fact that graphics are not important.

    But lets stop with the title slagging and console slagging please. It reminds me of Primary School when you argued about whose rock is better. Consoles are suited to different people. The PS2 has a bigger library of games, cool great whatever how many of them are not so good? The Gamecube has a tiny software choice and isn't too brilliant in a few other things, but most of the titles it have are amazing. The X-Box has an enormous amount of power however as many people have stated it has a lot of multi-format and ported titles but the exclusive titles are like the Gamecube are really good games.

    Look long and hard at the console you want and the games you are likely to buy for it. If theres a large amount of Multi-Format titles on the list I would personally go for the X-Box (Purely because they tend to put a lot of extra stuff in there like custom soundtracks or something) do your research and write down the pros and cons on a piece of paper, then look at it for a while with the games you want to get and do it that way. At least then you'll get a console to suit you.

    the x-box definitely has things going for it, much like any console. Truth be told I've been dying to find an excuse to buy it for xbox live (I'm such an online junky =3 ). Hasn't provided <u>me</u> with the titles I need to do it yet though, but in the end it's what you like that matters.

    Have you worked out if you're getting one or not yet? ^^

    Aegeri, erh, while RS3 for the xbox is based on the pc version, it's certainly NOT a port. There are so many new elements to take into consideration. Not only that, but several of the original levels have been changed as well, and the fact that you control your team with a microphone is just awesome.

    But now, let's all agree that Project Gotham Racing 2 is the best multiplayer game to come out this year, and let's all play it to death! I know I will.

    I know that many, many, many people find the standard XBOX contoller to be too large to handle. I'm about 5'''6'''"" (or whatever feet and inches are with that rediculous system) and i have small, dainty musicians hands and i find the standard controller a dream. Unlike most console controllers which to me seem flimsy and insubstancial, these controllers feel beefy and unbreakable. Seriously, the PS2 controllers seem like you can only hold them with the tips of your fingers rather than your whole hand.

    Thanks for provide an example to the kind of negative, fan boy posts I was condeming Aeg! <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Its all about the games. XBox has more American style games. Good games. As long as you're not looking for Japenese stuff, Xbox is great. If you want a more diverese console experience, get a PS2 or a GameCube. If you want the best American style games, grab an Xbox. There are plenty of reasons I mentioned.

    Also, Splinter Cell has downloadable content, Prince of Persia has some other random Live featrues,. GG aeg. PS2 Connectivity is iffy, since its all 3rd party run. Live is a comprehensive onlince system. PC is better, but the topic is about consoles, so it doesn't matter. But thats all OT. Start a new topic if you want a fanboy war.

    Thanks for the comments and opinions.

    The package I wanted has gone off sale when I went to have a look around. I'm going to wait after Christmas now <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo--> I'm not too fussed about the PS2, my friend sold his for an XBOX because he could get the same games with better graphics (plus different games). Nintendo, just = no <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> When I was little it was Nintendo or Sega... I'm Sega all the way (goooo Dreamcast)!!!

    I mainly want a console for something to play when I'm not at my PC or have friends around. It also gives me something to compete with my friends.

    Thanks again, Merry Christmas <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> I'll let you know what I do after Christmas.

    And the PS2 doesn't? Actually the PS2 has more games overall from everywhere. You're on a losing argument here Jammer.

    <!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->As long as you're not looking for Japenese stuff, Xbox is great. Wow, thanks for saying what I HAVE BEEN SAYING THE WHOLE TIME.

    Incidently, don't get a Gamecube for a more diverse experience, because it lacks solid action, sports and racing games. I wasn't overly impressed with Mario Kart: Double Dash for example. If those games are what you want get either a PS2 or an X-Box. The gamecube is in fact I'd say the worst of the three for diversity, because it has some really good games in all genres, but very few of them (Resident Evil for survival horror, Rogue Leader for action, Viewtiful Joe for whatever the hell it is). This is different to my complaint about the X-Box which has a few decent (non multiplatform/port) games but in a limited amount of genres.

    <!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->Also, Splinter Cell has downloadable content,<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

    So does the PC, the PS2 has an entirely new exclusive level, in the end, so what?

    <!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->Prince of Persia has some other random Live featrues,.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

    Which should be noted that it is only letting you know when someone is on. It's just live compatible, it doesn't actually do anything of any note. (Random live feature is in fact correct <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->)

    <!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->GG aeg. Wait, it does matter, because the games that use live well are generally the PC ported action games, which as you've just pointed out yourself, WORK BETTER on a PC. It is worth noting that the initial poster stated they have a PC too <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    As for iffy, ever actually bothered playing the likes of SOCOM 2 or other PS2 online games before? I would bet you haven't actually. I thought it would be atrocious as well but it worked fairly well. Then again, X-Box live IS really really good, and I'd definitely buy an X-Box if I felt like console online mp (which incidently, I don't). Depends on what games you want, if you want the likes of SOCOM 2 or Resident Evil Outbreak, well yes, it all comes down to exclusives now doesn't it?

    <!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->But thats all OT. Start a new topic if you want a fanboy war. <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

    Only one fanboy here, I suggest you have a look in the mirror.

    [Incidently, I own a PS2, Gamecube (For Resident Evil+Rogue Leader series), PC, Gameboy and a Dreamcast (It was $10, you don't pass that up <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->), which is rather wide variety in the end. I go where the games I want are, which has been my entire point right through this. If you actually bothered reading my posts and thinking before simply frothing at the mouth, you would probably see that. Again, you've admitted yourself the X-Box lacks a wide variety of games, which as I said before, is my entire point and why I don't have one.]

    Get an Xbox! It's good! Play Halo and Jet Set Radio Future! Use the beefy controller, be a man! Run linux and be truly 1337!

    But seriously, I would recomend an xbox, it really is a nice system. I myself only bought one because I was convinced it was gonna go the way of the Dreamcast and then I could get games cheap (and plus it had JSRF which is a kikas game), and it also has a lot of good fighting games compared to the other consoles (or did when i bought it), which is one of the reasons I got my dreamcast.

    In the end though, you're probly gonna have fun with any system you buy, so why not have fun with the larger and heavier and more technically superior of the systems? (I bet that's what peopel said about Sega Saturn too)

    buy it. just.. really, there's no reason not to. good games are coming. they are coming FAST.

    i guess nobody cares about halo 2? april, baby. april.

    critics, fine. stick to your PC. i call that closed-mindedness. if you have a job, it's not really that much to shell out.
