Won Causes Lock-ups

I click internet games in Half-life. My PC freezes, I am un-able to end the process with taskman. Logging off dosen't help. hl.exe stays in memory unless I reboot.

    same thing happened to me, couldnt connect through console or create a lan game either :/
    I tried reinstalling it and that didnt work, I reformatted my hd and reinstalled everything and it still doesnt work

    I have the same problem. It's not just NS either. I've tried CS and TFC on WON but they all freeze the computer.

    Just follow that guide in the forums somewhere that says how to get NS working on Steam. There's like 50 servers on Steam right now.

    What OS you using? If you have XP or 2000 you might want to check if you set hl.exe to Win98 compatibility. Just turn off any compatibilities with any OS and you should be fine.

    And if it doesn't work, check the size of hl.exe, and if its higher than 924 KB then you've got a virus <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

    If these don't work, consider a reinstall, but first <b>backup all your NS stuff!</b>

    Communist _ Ive got exactly the same problem that you had. Installed steam and my won install stopped linking to internet games and froze; I could create Lan games (but never tested if it worked properly with other peeps). I have tried reinstalling HL to another directory but this hasn't let me back on won servers.

    What did you do to get yourself back on won?

    yeah, what exactly did you do, because mine is still messed up, I cant even create a lan game
