<div class="IPBDescription">quit scaring off the newbies!</div> Newbies will be newbies. Don't attack them like a ferocious pack of wolves. Quit using cliche phrases like "when it's done."
Just pass the thread over or make a simple post stating that nobody knows about the release date yet.
<span style='font-size:8pt;line-height:100%'>I'm sure the release will be quiet prominently announced @ www.natural-selection.org</span>
Newbies are cute and cuddly if you don't mercilessly slaughter them! <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif'><!--endemo-->

If you feel differently, I can give you seven days to type the explanation up.

Internet forums work like the game "telephone" where statements get repeated and modified by many different people until they've taken on totally different meanings. I've seen this happen quite a few times on this forum with issues like hitboxes, anti-scripting and the bile bomb.
I think that statements like "I'm guessing March 1st for release" will get transformed into "NS is coming out on March 1st". Coming from a Veteran and specifying a specific day, I think people will misunderstand and believe that it's some sort of official statement. Instead, you should just point them to the www.natural-selection.org main page which is where the most accurate release information will always be available.

If you have a better idea then telling them the truth, please enlighten me.

You have a good point Max. I don't want anybody to think I'm anywhere near official. I'm about as far as possible away from it <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
Edited my post to reflect that.
On a side note, I think that NS combat should be put to one side for now. Let the dev team balance 3.0, release it, THEN bring out combat when it's ready. But that's just me.

Actualy, all things considered Combat is more ready for release than Classic right now <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
Due to a number of rather annoying bugs pt'ing of Classic has been hindered. (massive lag, resource allocation)
March 1st? That's such a long wait. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->
(Sorry, couldn't resist.) <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

Things dont always come out on planned dates. If it doesnt make the planned release date, it wont be the end of the world. Just wait, and look at the screen shots ect.

As i see it, It will be out by june beacuse that when this holiday season end.
The way it is RIGHT THIS SECOND?
Yes you would.
Trust me. You'd HATE combat as much as we do right now in about 20 minutes.
My interpretation, anyhow, is that it probably doesn't hurt to say
"NS doesn't have a concretely scheduled release date, but when the new version does come out, it will be on natural-selection.org"
And more often than not, someone's already said it before. And any further "when its done" posts are usually for the purpose of pointing out how well the author understands this fact and how the newbie doesn't understand it.
A little bit of common courtesy doesn't really hurt.
It's been already 2 and a half weeks since the last update. You would think they could at least post an update saying something to the effect of "NS:C Is nearing completion and work on NS is going very well" or even something gayer than that. Just SOMETHING to appease us for the time being.

You'd be suprised by how rare "common" courtesy really is...

"I heard from Max that flayra is going to release it on X date"
Than the turn around and tell someone else...
"I heard from Flayra that Max said it would be ready to go on Y date"
Than I spead the rumor that..
"purple bannana coffee car-pool"
LOL
