Request For Textures

First, if this isn't in the right forum, please move it... I took a chance that texture requests would go in the map forum heh.

What I need is an animated texture, small water ripples on a transparent (black) background. I mean very small, like water droplets. Maybe in total 3 frames, doesn't have to be very intensive.

If anyone can do this, please email it to rmcgechaen@shaw.ca with whatever name you want in the credits, much appreciated and thanks in advance

I was bored, so I actually filled your request. Nothing fancy, or particularly awesome, imo... although, I didnt know whether you wanted uniform ripples, or circular ripples caused by water droplets, so I made both! I also made a "scroll" texture for the uniform ripples so you can use a func_conveyor effect (which usually looks a lot nicer than an animated texture.)

Oh yeah, and I'll e-mail it to ya as well.

And whoever uses this, please credit Gary "Erias" Sinitsin! Thankya.

Lastly, stay tuned for my "Primordial" NS texture pack, which will contain a hundred or so original textures... they go very nicely with the NS2 WAD, in my humble little opinion. You can never have too many textures to choose from.

Bloody hell. It's saying I can't upload this type of file (.wad or .zip)

    Well, I guess that's why I have a webserver.

Btw... (this is my third post in a row...) if anyone else has any requests for textures of any sort... feel free. I can always use more ideas for my Primordial texture set (a vent texture for whatever, a logo for so-and-so, any ideas are welcome!)

Maybe sometime I'll start a thread about the texturing work for NS I've been doing on-and-off for, oh, the past year or so. Maybe I'll post some textures, and everyone can assure me that they really don't suck and I haven't been wasting my time...

    *cough*

Anyways, more texture requests are welcome. I like textures. Textures are my friend.

How about doing something with "Wetwall" and "Teck" textures? I know alot of new textures in the wetwall series were made for Tanith v2, just wondering if there is anymore variations and creations with both these old texture sets

Hmmm! There is already quite a spread of Teck textures, but I took a good look at 'em and I might have some ideas! Wetwall is pretty similar to Teck, but there is potential there, too. I'm not totally sure I'll put anything I come up with in this avenue in the Primordial WAD, as I was aiming for primarily original textures, but we shall see.

Remixing the original NS textures is fun, they're very cool textures to play with in both mapping and texturing.

    Thanks for the idea!

When I looked out the window of my NS map into outer space, I was wondering if I could let spacecraft float out there. A few transparent or black background textures like a rotating planet and/or space station. Rotating rocks or junk (can I use animated textures on moving or rotating brushes). Maybe a space shuttle or fighter craft.
They wouldn't have to be high res because I would want them to appear in the background, just to animate the sky, sort of. I am sure more people would use this method.

Interesting idea... a way to spice up space skymaps and the exterior environment. However, I don't think you'd have a whole lot of "space" to work with, in an NS map, nor too many entities or wpolys to spare. Still, a few things floating in the void might look groovy. I like the rotating asteroid idea, although I don't think animated textures would work too well, except maybe for, say, the blinking running lights on a ship or satellite floating in the void.

On an aside note, the "Primordial" .WAD I mentioned above is on hold while I finish the "Darksteel" .WAD. Primordial originally contained some of the Darksteel textures, and it's pretty lame without them, so it'll be on the backburner for a while. Darksteel is coming along very well and lookin' awesome if I do say so myself... I give the collection, oh, at least a few weeks until it's done. And I have to go back to college on the 15th, my time will be somewhat limited after that.

animated skymaps (a la ut2k3) have been done in half life, but spirit of half-life. I don't know if the code for that is available to flayra, or if it's computationally worthwhile, but it would be cool.

Er, I believe Melancor was talking about just putting animated brushes in front of the skybox.

NS does not need animated skymaps, imo.
