    True, but I tend to have the player minimized while listening, so meh...

    The most painful thing about winamp 3 was playlist management. Unless Nullsoft is hiding something up their sleeves, winamp 5 seems to have fixed that. I'm pretty sure the Apple offering has better portable MP3 player functionality (right?), but other than that, it's probably a toss-up in choosing between the two.

    I'm using WinAMP 5 right now. I upgraded it from 2.8 (or something) and i've noticed very few differences, works fine.

    I'm using Winamp 5.0 now, simply because unlike Winamp 3.0, this one doesn't crash my PC. :o

    All music players tremble at the might of <a href='http://www.foobar2000.org/' target='_blank'>foobar 2000</a>, which is quite possibly the best piece of software I've used.

    That's in 2.91, probably before it as well.

    Does this one use up a lot of ram like 3? 3 just didn't work with my computer.

    Nope.. The reason why its 5 was because it combines the features of three with the stability of 2... 3+2 = 5
    It doesn't take up much Ram at all if you leave it on a classic (winamp 2) skin.
    Currently my Winamp 5 is supposedly only taking 3mb of ram <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    for some reason I can't get my keypad-control thing to work on the 5. So no, I didn't pass to it. If anyone can tell me how to install a plugin and have it actually work (or one where you can assign keys like kp_ins to play, etc) please feel free to tell me <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    If I ever start DJ'ing again, I'll make sure to play some PEPRS, just for you. That is, if they want me back.

    oh thanks. must have been a conflict between the plugin and default function. Teaches me not to look around <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    er if it doesn't bother anyone, is there anyway to have a plugin similar to HLamp, but in general? I would love to be able to check the mp3 tags while in (any) game and if possible without annoying the whole server with "I am listening to [ song ] (HLamp)" spammage
    I'd think if it exists (believe me I searched but to no avail) it would be some simple OSD-like type thing appearing on the corner. I would think possibly like this game-face thing I've heard about the Asus XT cards

    Well... er.. I don't know how someone might go about modifying the HLamp program, but basically if you wanted to do that without annoying people you would replace the say "i am listenting to blah blah blah" part of the config with:

    developer "1"; echo "I am listening to blah blah blah"; developer "0"

    My policy is: if it works, don't touch it. My current Winamp works fine and I don't think I need anything more from it.

    Soooo...I don't have anything else to say.

    I think that my only complaint about Winamp5 is that it is a bit big and i cant make it smaller; i can only make it bigger. Other than that, its awesome.
