For those of you (like myself) who are considering becoming professional level / game designers, there is a conference being held in San Jose, California. I hope this isn't too off topic but it sounds like it should be quite good, so check it out.

    I wanted to become a Games designer once.
    I chose Art, and Computing at A-level to get a balance..but Computing was dull, boring and full of mathematics <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

    so I dropped it. Oh well.

    I live in England. I'm doing a computing course right now, it's boring, we were supposed to learn basic coding in one of the two years. We're in the second year and we're doing "Office Skills" :/

    To be clear, GDC is the game <b>developers</b> conference and covers all aspects of creating games.

    lol, ATI I think he was just making sure everyone understood that there was MORE than mapping there. If a mod was going to lock/phase this thread it would have happened when Max saw it.

    Sorry you guys aren't finding anything useful for programming courses. I'm sure if you were to ask around with some of the coders here they could find you some useful self-teaching resources to start on it early.

    My computing course was just creating calculators on Visual Basic...

    Need I say more.
    Plus as I said, alot of mathematics came into it, and Im poo at maths.

    I don't even know what I signed up for to get this. Do you know why you got this BlackPanther? I thought maybe it had to do with requesting information from Full Sail... (a college in Winter Park, Florida).

    I think they post all the information, images and media discussed at the conference on their website. So look it up a few days after the 'festival' has finished.

    Yeah, I think I get reduced entry because I'm a member of my Universities Game Design Society. Not sure though, it might not apply for the european GDC.
