when it's officially supported in Steam.
Counter-Strike..........................54741 players
Day of Defeat..............................2658 players
Team Fortress Classic.................1500 players
Natural Selection.........................1108 players
I just got those figures off http://www.gamespy.com/stats/mods.asp?id=15&s=1
TFC has been included in HL patches for years (Not sure why ) when NS gets similar status as an official steam game do you think it will see a jump in player numbers?
It can only be a good thing for this amazing mod to get new blood, and making it a double click away in your taskbar should do that.

there will shurely be some that stay with ns and hopefully more will stay and learn to play ns than when 2.0 was released.
Indeed it's brainless, but that's the beauty, it's actually a pretty good game

Anyways on topic when NS goes Steam it still won't be supported by Vavle so I doubt it will increase dramatically.
Still though I would like to see the numbers of how high DoD jumped when it became Valve supported.
edit; and sometimes it even went down to the 2nd place. i was watching it...
hasnt ns already beaten tfc?
and fell back again?
Damn. I will have to tell all the professional gamers and teams that make money off it that. Brb.
Unlike most mods, in NS a single player can ruin things pretty handily. The noob who jumps in the cc without asking, or who drops MC five seconds into the game, will be a lot more common when the TFC/DoD/CS crowd suddenly discover NS.
Of course it'll be better for NS in the long run to have wider circulation, but damn, it is going to suck for a while to play on the pubs.
if you want to pm me and ill give u you our ip and pw, you always welcome

actaully mc is ok, just about as good as dc...i mean mc pwns at taking back hives to a point.... just put up a hive have turrets attack it have everyone mc to the hive, take it back. However In 3.0... i really dont no about 3.0.... lol
NS - 58391
DoD- 58170

MC provides needed adren for the lerk ( which is quite useful with the new lerk flight, especially if you couple it with focus).
Just because you like a game, that doesn't mean "everyone with taste" will like it. I, personally, can't stand DOD, and TFC is quite fun.

Counter-Strike - 5,778,881

Day of Defeat - 389,254

Team Fortress Classic - 160,911

Natural Selection - 85,207
As you can see; it's much more accurate.
Natural Selection will get more attention as a official Steam mod and therefor (most probably) get more players than Team Fortress Classic.
I can't see the fun in war mods (like world war mods) where all the guns are so unaccurate that it's a matter of luck if you hit your enemy. NS has much more fun action where the battles could be fought in every possible way. No NS game is the same. In shooting games it's much more about aiming at the enemy and pull the trigger and.... No more game in it. Nut much strategy in comparison to NS

the stats say that the last 31 days 5,778,881 different nicknames played cs.
Now think about those nick-fakers, changing clantags in nicks and other examples
and imagine the real amount of cs-players.
I find it interesting that TFC has well over twice as many names, but closer to 50% more active players right now. Quite the disparity.
It made me sad to look down the list and see that six people are playing FLF right now. That was a great mod, and was at least as big as NS in its hey-day. Now...6. Sigh.
Heres the point
nm it flew past you already
