Edits bring me to a 404, so does the 'advanced search' on top. Seems like the same issues that were squashed a month ago are back again.

What causes it and how do you fix em?

    Dont listen to these guys... I feel ya buddy.. i get it too.
    When i do a search, upload an avatar, change my personal settings, or in general anything that requires uploading to the server i get a message returned sayins blah blah "error" blah blah "contact the forum administrator".
    It really is quite annoying. Plz forum admins see if you can address this problem!

    Try just refreshing whenever you get the 404's, it works for me when I try to use the advanced search.

    I'm running IE 6.0 and have never, ever had a problem with search or edit on these forums, so I think it's more than just your browser.

    I must agree. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->. I have 2 firewalls that block practically all cookies, and pretty high security settings, proxy that gets rid of cookies, and no problem here....

    I did have a problem like that a while ago on a different forum, but I was the only one, and then it just suddenly was fixed after a month.

    I was running IE 4.0 for ages without realizing it, and I have encountered no search function problems, or editing ones (except the ones with all those HTML tags and no button to edit post). I use Opera now, and still have had no problems <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
