[cl_dlls] Client.dll Differs From The Server

<div class="IPBDescription">arg dont know what to do</div> okay was playing ns on steam for many months and everything was fine. two days ago i woke up and my cross hairs were gone, i didnt mess with any files or anything. so playing without the cross hair was very annoying. so i decided to copy the sprites from a friend which i believe the cross hairs would be in. didnt work. so i unistalled steam and natural selection. i have now reinstalled them both and am getting an error while i try to connect to any server. it say " Your .dll[cl_dlls] client.dll differs from the server. which basically means from my understanding that i have a different version of ns than the server. i have dl'd ns 2.0 which is the current version (2.01 is a server side download i believe) i have looked through my files and deleted all the ns folders. now i reinstalled ns to the half life folder. ns is not recognized as a third party game as before. (i tried to do the run hl for a bit and all that stuff in the webbed topic). nothing is working now. could anyone help me fix the problem. any help is apprectiated.     uninstalling steam isnt a good idea :/ did you delete the registry keys too? You have to reinstall each directory to where they were before of steam will not recognize third party games cause its still looking in the old spot for mods. restore the directory structure you had before and see if you can get ns back.

    well thats not good. when i unistalled steam i just found the exe file for the unistall and did it from there. i do not know if the deleted the registry keys?
    extra info: im running off a half life cd key (mine),
    download the full steam install
    im not sure of my directory setup before so how do I put it the way it was
    i can tell you later today how my setup is (seeing as how i am at school now)

    Reinstall steam, then get the beta 2.0 installer from the forums, under Public Betas. install that to Steam\SteamApps\Youremail\half life\ns
    Try it there..
    It *could* be your trying to connect to a beta VAC server, which would mean you need a different dll (I don't think many servers run vac, but its worth a shot)
    Also make sure its wasnt a 3.0 server <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
