<div class="IPBDescription">Add some spice.</div> I find that roleplay adds an effect of realism to a game, and also makes it really fun. Like, playing NS on Marines and having people act respectful, say "rgr that, moving to position, ETA 2 minutes" instead of "ph33r meh." Or having a server of the specialists or the Opera and hving peeps "play" the parts instead of just mindless killing. I was wondering- does anyone know of any mods/servers where they do this? or do I just have to try and find one by luck?

I really doubt any servers consistently do this.

I only think Locked Clan games work like that. Tried it on a pub before and the team muted me.

I don't think anyone Role Play's sadly, I wouldn't mind playing.

I always do that on pubs, only if the comm is a good one and is respectful. I would say "Roger that sir moveing out, You two come with me i need to weld that vent up"

I wasn't aware The Specialists had any noteworthy plot...

I always act with courtesy on the marines - until we get a terrible commander, or one one listens to anyone or there's no teamwork after attempts to fix it have been made. I don't know how you can really role play the aliens. Unless you count "Get to the hive!"...but everyone sorta says that.

There is a mod named Roleplaying Half-Life out there, I knew one from the team, heard some news on planethalflife a time ago.

I tried doing that, but typing my whole dramatic speech out in midst of battle wasn't fun. I doubt you could find a server full of people who do that.

Try finding people who do that (I do), and play with them. It takes the marine game to a whole new level when the entire team does it, though. (but the now-and-then PH33R M3 is still ok)

There are special roleplaying servers for several mods, including, but probably not limited to, The Opera, Action Half-Life and The Specialists. Of course, it's possible to set up a roleplaying session on a public server, but this is quite rare.

Oh, and get a program like The All-Seeing Eye and use it to browse for servers. The roleplaying servers usually have the word "roleplay" in their name.

Being the sad geek that i am, i'd probably like this idea.

Although would screaming "OMGZ STINKY SMELLY MARINES IN OUR HIVE" count as roleplay?

You rarely find a roleplay server wich is moderated. I loved the days of Action Half Life and Opera and Specialists roleplay LAN's...but then came steam and ruined my gaming experience..

how the heck do you roleplay an alien when you want to inform your teammates of something over teamchat or 'the hive mind'? ^^;

By typing something like the hive is under attack, intruders are are closing up on us and so on.

Just the same things as marines would?

I mean, how do you know what the aliens are saying? Maybe something about scorpians.

Destiny isn't out yet, I don't think it is anyway.

It'd be nice to see some roleplaying but I think it would only work out in a co-op type game mode because well... what would the aliens do?
