My Week Long Pc Gam'n Binge

How long does it take you to beat a SP?
Well this week is finals week at my college.
And I got very lucky, even though I took a full load of classes i got really lucky in that the professors I had didint hold final exam tests.
They did other things such as 3 semester tests but no final, or hand in a big paper, do a presentation etc.
I had to write 137 pages for one class and hand that in but I did that. Basically all I have to do this week, is an 8 min speech for my mandatory communications class that I never took in my first year. And thats it.
Meanwhile all my friends have like 3 or 4 huge hard final exams every day this week. They all hate me becuse of it.
My presentation isnt until the end of finals period so I have to stick around. bah.
But well anyways, Ive had all this week off to do nothing. And considering all of my friends are busy freaking out about tests and studying they dont want to go out and do anything.
So I did some christmas shopping for part of a day and then I had like 5 days to do nothing. So I played PC games.
In 6 days I beat (all on medium or level above medium)
Serious Sam 1 (1/2 a day)
Serious Sam SE( the other 1/2 a day)
Need 4 Speed: Underground, (TWO Times b/c I accendentaly erased my saved game. )
Command and Conquer: Generals (GLA and Chinese missions and 3/4 the way through the US one)
Call of Duty (1 and a half times on a higher difficulty)
HL: Blue Shift (I played it agan in a whopping 2 and a 1/2 hours, dang that game is SHORT)
UFO: Aftermath
Then on the last day, today I finished Mafia which was sitting on my PC for the longest time. I had gotten to the very end and stopped playing for like 4 months.
Not this week but last weekend over my thanksgiving day break, I beat Unreal 2 and max payne 2, in less then 4 days total.
So im like, wow, I have no life, what so ever.
or for at least this week.
heehee
But really, wow, thats like over $400 dollars worth of games, and I beat them in one week. Good thing I got most of them from my friends to borrow.
Now dont think Im a real big guy who never sees the light of day. I have 6.5% body fat, am in very good physical shape, black belt, likes to go do OTHER stuff like go to mall, coffee bar, play soccer etc person, who is soon to be a police officer. But some times i just go on these little gaming extravaganzas.
but man, how long does it take you guys to beat a game?

ANY lucas arts adventure game: average 3 hours
Red Alert 2: One day
I go on other binges, but I forget them now.
Unless you have an Xbox. (yuk yuk yuk yuk)
I dunno, I go on gaming binges too, but I never actually sit down and BEAT games. I'll play ten minutes of Max Payne 2, beat one level of Mario World, play my Dreamcast for a while, go play flash games for another half hour, then start a new game. Yes, my attention span is too short even for video games.
The quick-finish I'm most proud of by far is the original Myst. One day, with absolutely no cheating by looking at hint guides; did it sitting at the computer with a friend, and we were bouncing ideas off each other like crazy.
I can't remember which ones, but I beat a bunch of games those months, some for the first time, others for a second or third.
As for how long it takes me, it really depends on the game.
Some games it seems like I beat in three days, others a week, others a month.
but these days they seam to make single player a little to short or it could be just me
I finished Jedi Academy in three days, but it was really like one day because I didn't play the whole time.
I actually take forever to finish a lot of games. Sometimes I leave them only a few levels from the end, like Halo where I left off at the library (but you know, that's sort of common), and some I leave off even if I'm having fun, like Opposing Force or the original Deus Ex. I beat NOLF in like, a day though. SO ENGROSSING!
Metal Gear Solid 2 took me 1 day's worth of gaming to finish.
Tony Hawk's Underground took me 5 hours to do with full stats / goals.
Zone Of The Enders took me 4 hours, and i explored EVERYWHERE, i could have had it done in under 3.
Can't really remember any more.
A good plan would be to find a few good multiplayer games and some people to play them with. It dramatically increases the play time you can get out of a game. Since you've already got a copy, I'd start with Sam2 coop. Play on hardest difficulty, infinite lives and ammo, and see who dies the least in the insuing chaos.
Anymore, single player games are often just training for multiplayer anyway.
- Jedi Knight: Academy in one and a half days (not playing the whole day, mind you)
- System Shock 2 in... A week maybe?
Maybe it's just lack of good games, but...
The last time I can remember I went nuts with a game like that was when I played EverQuest. I remember the last couple of levels before 51 when I was due to get kickass new spells. I was on the level grind for a whole freaking day in the Dreadlands and Karnor's Castle and I finally dinged to 51 by the end of the night.
Man, were those new spells awesome.
The one im most proud of is beating FF7 in 11 hours or when I beat Metal gear solid 2 on european extreme in 12 hours...
RPGs take WAAAAY too long to finish.
Dahm I love that game.
