Some screenshots, a demo, or SteamID would be nice.

Name / Steam ID and WON ID can be changed with little effort, slandering a random username is of no use. Contact the server admins for the server you saw him/her on and give them the necessary evidence and details. We can do nothing for you.

IP would be best! ... so we can just nuke him or at least ban him and never come back (from changing his steam/wonid)

Thats the problem with steam, if you have 100 email addresses, you will have 100 accounts, easier than having to get illegal cd keys for WON

most hackers have personal problems in there real life, like they get beat up etc, so they take it out in a game. i just ignore them, as whingin and slagging them is just paying them attention, and they love it.

Anyone know how to add IPbans to a ban.cfg or w/e file it uses?

    Cause I never got this working. Even with admin_ipban or console. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

NO NO NO! IP bans are a BAD idea, unless the person is coming from someplace where the IP won't change.. most users have dynamic IP's, meaning that they reconnect and get a new IP.. which means you banned someone who does nothing. Go by a steamid ban, thats almost impossible to change (short of buying a new copy of hl)

Yes u do. It was only in the beginning you could have multiple email accounts with 1 cd key. Now its 1 cd key = 1 email account. Plus they have deactivated all the accounts signed up when you could have multiple accounts for 1 cd key

Yea I saw the same thing on Beannet, guy rushed to a hive and pulled out his knife, knifing down the hive with hmg speed.

The guy cheating on our server was using a script, it attacked using gore three times before resting for energy, it probably could of done more if there was enough energy. That let him kill someone with gore with what looked like one hit, but was actually 3, remember that one gore cannot under any circumstances kill a 3/3 marine with full health and armor.... <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->

Yea if you see anyone going around with the name "|Px|Sonic2000" snag his steamid and post it up here, he is no longer part of the Px clan and might/might not still be wearing the tag

    *weeps at repeating*

    A) Take it up with the server admins guys, the NS team aren't the server police.

    B) Even if you HAVE to post it here, put it in the server forum, where the majority of players (who aren't ops) don't read, and the ops do.

Or better yet, somehow report it to Valve or whoever handles VAC, so they get globally banned for evar.(until they go to some haxor site and get a new key or whatever... they ought to run out quick now)

Last night was the first time I'd seen cheating in NS. It was a bit depressing to get taken down as HA by a gorge with the healspray.

I just left the server, but I'm curious as to how common it is? I've seen speedhackers in vanilla half life and counterstrike, but I left those games to get away from the cheaters and found NS to be a very refreshing change. I'd hate to leave it because cheating became commonplace.

While NS can be a mix of good and bad teamplay it's been fairly cheat free for me for 6 months or so.

Yeah, I hate cheaters too, as it seems they're the major pain of all gaming communities <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->. What I mean by cheaters however, is losers that due to a deplorable lack of skill resort to using third-party programs to make up for it. Yes, they are irritating, but plz don't confuse them with Hackers, since that's a totally different thing. Cheaters are usually brainless kiddies that have little or no knowledge about actual programming and stuff ;(

what is a speed hack? on what basis does it work? Just wondering cause Ive never seen one in action (i think) and I'd like to be able to spot them if they are being exploited

I've seen it in CS but it should be the same. Basically the player goes <i>extremely</i> fast in the direction of their choice. It's obvious, you would know it if you saw it.

I had the oppurtunity to play with Yolt/Michigan once. Very racist and not a nice fella.
I complained to the admin and found out that he and Yolt were buddy buddy so nothing came of it except me not ever playing on that server again.

I'll see if I can find my screenshots.

Speedhack; n: A cheating program performing one of the following actions:
Boosting a character's movement speed (ie. running or walking)
Boosting the rate of fire for an attack (as mentioned, knifing a hive in 15 seconds, 3 gores in the time of 1, emptying an HMG clip in 2 seconds, etc.)
Increasing the speed of certain actions, such as reloading.

Speedhacks are some of the most obvious out there - spotting them is no problem if you keep your eyes open.

how do they work around the coaded RoF and max-speed limitations? I was under the impression that it was impossible to do without the server being able to easily detect the massive inconsistancys in the code.

I'm not sure. I am unfamiliar (read: have no friggin clue) about the HL engine. I have seen it happen though. I have stood next to a guy who emptied his HMG in about 3 seconds, reloaded in one second, never missed, and apparently is real chummy with the server admins. Go figure.

I have a demo of the guy here. The speed hacking is pretty obvious. Unfotunately, I can't seem to upload it (too big, even when zipped)

Oh, and his excuse is always "lag" when someone says he hacks, and he likes saying he's in CAL. Just random things I've picked up from seeing him on servers.

    And STEAM_0:1:1426273 is his steamID.
