:/ You'll just have to take all things into your account and think about it. You will <i>have</i> to realise that education is more important than you being lazy/talking to friends/whatever at the moment... You can have all that and more if you do good at school... So, good luck studying. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

Even spending 50 hours a week on my coursework, 15-20 hours a week on my research, and at least 16 hours a week with my gf, I'm still running out of things to do. That has more to do with my personality (active, to say the least) than anything. Maybe you are the same.

My initial hope was that NS 3.0 would keep me busy until x-mas, when I get other things to do with myself, but instead I went digging around in my closet for old games that I'd like to play again, or have released some mods that I haven't played yet.

Try deductive logic... "If I'll study, I'll pass the exams. If I'll pass the exams, my parents will be satisfied and happy. If my parents will be happy, they'll give me money. If they'll give me money... Blah blah blah..." <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

Bad self-discipline, give yourself a mental spanking, turn off the computer, unplug the telephone and get to work. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Why turn off computer?
If i done that il'd just watch telly or sleep. I would not do my coursework, even now, im talking to you when i could be doing coursework or revision for my mocks.. TOMMOROW.

sorry but it's basically life teaching the old lesson; nothing worth getting is easy <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

Seriously though; the key is in starting. Just keep this in the mind; if you go do something first it doesn't get rid of it. You'll probably waste more time trying to avoid certain things you know you really really want to do and end up doing more mundane things you can break away from. But it doesn't work. The task is still there and all you've done is burnt time you wanted to spend on something really cool.

In the end it's just all about getting it over and done with so you can get on with the rest of the day ^^

I know i have to do the coursework.

ICT - 3 Pieces of coursework, close to completion, can do easily at school during lunch time, over due - 8 months.

Maths - 2 Pieces, overdue 4 months and 8 months.

    English - 1 Piece, overdue 8 months.

RE - Due in next week, havent started, havent got a clue what to do.

Revision - Read a whole book for tommorows mock exam.

Edit - I have a week of mock exams. I have 2 half days and a full day off. I can revise easily in that time and do my coursework easily in the time. But i dont know why.. I just cant, I put it behind me and easily forget it.

And TBH, i am not active, i rarely go out unless my mates invite me or on saturdays and sundays.

well get started on the one you dislike the least. Just grab some pen and paper and think about it
turn off the PC. Turn off the TV, music, whatever. Just turn you mind to it and if another idea turns up? SLAP IT BACK DOWN XD

you're gonna have to learn self control... this coming from the biggest procrastinator I know of (me ^^ )
    There's more tips and tricks but, bleh; I'll post them tomorrow <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

Solki, not good advice but do what i do:

    Jack ****

I can't be assed to do work thats easy for me even though i need to do it.

So i just leave it and mess around during lessons.

I've gone from really smart to smart but CBA to show it.

    And who cares?

    OK maybe i'm not a good example <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

I used to be a good student. Was in the top 25% for maths in England one time.. Or so my teacher told me on target setting day. ( you see your results in tests and get them assessed basically ).

The really really hard part is starting(at least for me), the rest is easy.

I tend to more or less ignore a course until the last week or 2(attending lectures and listening quite well but doing little else). Then I spend the last week/2 weeks working 16 hour days studying. This works quite well for me since I only had to start once then it is easy to just continue(with the exception of sleep and food(but I don't really stop while eating either, I read something related, stopping is very bad because starting is the hard part)).

dont think about this, just do it.
If you start thinking about it, you will either come to the conclusion that none of it is important. Or there is too much to do, youll never do it in time, so why start. (looking back youll probably find both these reasons to be wrong)

    firstly, think about your work.
this is the easiest part, you dont even have to write anything! plan what you need to do, break it into small bits, and take it one bit at a time.
not only is it easier to see where your going when youv thought it through, but if its in small pieces you can get some gratification at the end of each piece.

then its just a matter of slogging through.

youv got your whole life to watch TV, chillout, whatever.
you cant do this work any other time but now.

    SO DO IT! <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

Thats how exactly went through college, for example I didn't actually hand in a single piece of Business homework over the two years, thats right, not one piece, not even the silly little cash sheet tasks they set us. How I stayed on that course is entirely beyond me, and for my other two courses (History and English) I did as little as was physically possible I was nearly thrown off my History course but again managed to stay by the skin of my teeth English was my "natural ability" subject so I was OK without putting much effort into that. However my final pieces for both courses were abysmal which gives me the wonderful grades of D in English E in Business and E in History,
Before that I was a straight A student, hard working etc etc so I dissapointed everyone really.
I now work in a supermarket.

If you don't wanna turn out like me then get that work done my friend, otherwise get used to the idea of stacking shelves.

i know how you feel man, im doing the exact same thing as i type this.

i have 2 lab write ups to finish, not even hard ones, but time consuming, a journal to start, due tomorrow, and calc hw that i must quikly bs, and take a test make up.

    *sigh*

but the thing is, if i have a lot of stuff to do, then ill actually do it. its the small things that mess me up, when i think i can do them easily during lunch or something, but i cant and it hurts me. but hey, i know, ill never learn. haha

eh, senior year, i kinda stopped trying a long time ago anyways.

Oh ****, well here is my story.
I used to be very good at junior high.
Then in the 1st period of high school it went just as good. Then things started to get worse and worse.
Now, in the 2nd class, I'm doing bad, real bad. From the 30 kids of my class, I have the worst results.
We get results on scale from 1 to 10. 10 is best, 1 worst. I'm getting 4's and 5's all the time.
    That really sucks.

I have the same problem, when I could be doing my homework or study, I sit at my computer.
This computer is my life, I'm addicted to it. I can't turn it off. I don't have the motivation to do anything.

When we have a big test, everyone learns about 3 hours straight. I open the book, read for about 15 min, and then throw it away. Just because I think there are things that are more fun.

I'm in the 2nd class, I really screwed up the 1st period. I can still turn everything around, but if I continue this way, things will end up bad.

It's even worse when you have to work with a computer as well as no one cares what you do or if you even attend lectures just that you complete the tasks you where given and learn what you should have. It's much easier getting started when you got teachers chasing you with a blowtorch. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->.

Have you tried just getting everything done at once? That works for me, when you eventually get started don't stop for as long as you can help it.

Drop out of school. Its obviously not for you. Join the military and save your pay. When you are done with your service spend the money on sick weapons and gear, buy a copy of Solider Of Fortune magazine, and head off to some South American country to fight the Cartel.

If that doesnt work you can always panhandle for cash! <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
