Marine Weapon System

i know i only been playin ns for 2 days but i noticed a trend. in every game i played the com is either to slow at getting ppl better weapons, or the com is just stubborn and dosnt give us them. then by the end of the map the aliens are charging as ono's and the marines cant do nout about it <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

i think marines should be able to get wepons from machines

    its not an imbalance, hes just remarking on the way some comms act. I know there are comms who splurge on shotguns; when I comm, my marines don't even see welders until 10 min into the game <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I just played a game where the aliens had 3 hives, onos and such. We had lvl3 armour and weapons. They were killing us so I gave out one gl one hmg and one ha. We then made a phase near a hive and rushed it. Remember this is with one gl and one hmg. At this point we had about 150 res, so we took a few more res and electrified them. Then we went th the next hive. Still only 1 hmg and one gl, and sieged it. 1 ts 4 turrest 2 sieges and electricity. Then we took a few more res and electrified them. Next we took the double res and electrified it. Still only with 1 hmg and 1 gl. Then we did a ha rush.

    The moral of this story is that you don't need uber weapons to win, you need high level weapons and teamwork. See now if I would have tried a ha rush with the 150 res we would have only had 1 res tower and no money for electricity. So if our ha rush would have failed we would have lost, because skulks can kill res which aren't electrified and onos can kill ha marines.

    So if marines could buy weapons from machines it would eliminate the need for a comm, and someone could just but 30 hmgs to spend all the teams res.

    When i comm, barely any advanced weapons see the light of day for a long time. Essentially, there's no need. I constantly try to keep weapons upgraded, by the time we see fades, they see lvl 2 lmgs, they're adequate enough to handle an early fade as long as the marines are working together, which i try and insist upon.

    However, if i'm comm'ing small games, it's not unusual to see shotguns out, purely because i can't afford for the marines to die.

    Welders, again, i never give them out until there's HA going about, unless it's REALLY necassary. Some maps have little if any weld points to necessitate one, and if the base takes little damage, i just let it slide. I will throw one down, however, if i'm close to losing an important structure or if there is a real need for one.

    Whenever I comm (which is quite rare) I always get full upgrades before giving out equipment unless we are in deep ****.     Shotties are okay for early/midgame, but the heavy weapons (HMG/GL) dont tend to go very far with LA.

    Once you get HA, you dont leave without a Shotty, HMG, or GL in your hands. HA is usually the key to making marine heavy weapons worth while, and their effectiveness becomes exponentially higher with good teamwork and good welding.

    The solution is res. Lots of it. If you can cap 5 RT's by about the midgame or so, you can fast tech to HA and be well on your way to getting the wondrous HA train. Three RT's are minimum, provided you have a good team that can subsist on RFK.

    All in All... Teamwork > Res > Upgrades > Weapons & HA

    G do you play under the same name? If so i think i played with you today and may have even comm'd not sure... You have to realise that perhaps the comm is saving for a a tf and turrets or some other structure. Play for more than 2 days and try comming once before you comment on something...

    Thats one problem that we have, no weapons see the light of day unless theyre a HA or a JP. LMG's, especially level 3 LMG's, are the most basic gun yes, but theyre fast and accurate and now that hit boxes are being fixed, are going to be much more deadly. This is really all you need because if you dont rambo and you have LA, you can move around faster and take out that pesky onos very quickly with about 5 marines constantly blasting it. There is no need for huge, chunky weapons that cost the res of a vital structure like a res tower or an obs, teamwork and the fact that the mariens are able to CHASE the damn onos instead of running away from the Onos thats probably on low health(usually the reason an onos runs away from anything really...). Teamwork > A couple of HA's or a couple of powerful weapons even though this is becoming less common as the game goes from a 1 hour game to a 20 minute game more bent on ramboing than before but hey, thats what 2.1 is doing, making structures cheaper so u guys can spam away at weapons and upgrades, as well as stim pakcs....oops i mean 'Cat-packs'

    Thats not 3/3 weapons/armor and teamwork...thats stupid aliens that didnt rape your 1 hmg and 1 GL with 3 onos + god knows how many skulks,fades and lerks....

    If someone's has very good aim, or has done a good job, I usually reward them with at least a shotty, or first HA/JP. The newbies crying for weapons I try to ignore...

    you don't get guns because you're just going to lose it, and it's a waste of resources. Unless you give a shotgun to every person on the team and they all stick together, which is highly unlikely for a random pub game.
