I just started getting it a couple of days ago when Steam UPDATED. I am able to re-install NS 2.01and then play, but then after i exit the game and/or STEAM, i get this error again and have to re-install NS all over again. NS 3 beta is working, CS works, it just NS 2.01 that i am having this problem.

if anyone one else is having this error, please post here.
If somone knows how to resolve this problem, your input is much appreciated. Thanx

BTW: I searched this forum for this problem, and have not found anyone that has had this problem. I have seen some people having problems because there fmod.dll is missing, but my file is there. Heres a SS.

    Suggestion:

    are you ussing the 2.0 installer from the open beta forum?

    if not, try it out <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    fmod.dll was updated with Beta 3.0a.

    This updated fmod.dll breaks Steam NS 2.01. You will not be able to play Steam NS 2.01 unless you switch fmod.dll between the 2.01 one, and the 3.0a one. Complicated, maybe, but that's all you can do until Flay updates fmod.dll again to fix this error.

    I'd expect Flay to update it with 3.0b, which should be sometime next week. So just sit it out, or juggle fmod.dlls around.

    BTW, fmod.dll is located in the Half-Life directory.

    Welp. i got my working. Just go delete your NS folder in your steamapps Dir. Then re-install. I think when you install the beta version of 2.1/3.0, it messed my 2.0 directory up somehow. Works fine now. Gl, peace

    You might want to Sticky this post. others are having this problem also. If you install Beta 3.0+ after you have 2.01 Steam installed, your best bet to solve this error is Deleting your 2.01 Folder (NS folder in SteamApps) and re-installing Fresh. Seams to fix this problem/error.
