We had great fun, I host a server occasionally, if you want to play, idle in IRC and I might be around sometime to start one for us NS folks

The games great in my opinion, but others didnt like it. It's really a matter of preferance... it has to be played, you'll know then what I mean.

I'm most excited about the engine. It looks to be the best thing now until DOOM 3 comes out, and even then this might be better for some things than DOOM 3 is.

Until I get my Pentium 4, and perhaps my new mobo if needed, I think I'll leave it off my squeaky-clean hard drive.

I don't like it even though I have a good machine. Just something jumped out at me and told me to delete it.

Ohhh! Spiffy!

/me downloads

This'll be better for multiplayer, Doom 3 is concentrating on fully a pant-wetting, immersive singleplayer experience.

It's terrible . It's just like UT2..or whatever the last version of that game was. It's just prettier. Eye candy is nothing without game to back it up.

If you're getting a pentium 4, and you didn't already have one, you will need a new mobo. Probably new ram too.

Having only played some botmatches so far, I really like the gameplay - which is suprising, as I hated UT - and the great graphics don't need further mentioning.

I'm really interested in mapping for this baby (if the new editor isn't using the old UE interface *shudder*), but mods... I guess it's all Unreal Scrpit again, which makes total conversions and similiar grand - style mods pretty much impossible.

Yah. Why can't they just use C/C++ like everyone else?

Feh, sometimes making things harder for other people is fun. You never know, maybe they think using something different shows innovation and brains.

And I'm sad now, because I don't want to put in a mobo. Maybe someone else around 'ere will do it for me.

my take on this:

i was a little disappointed - the gameplay/weapons/movement/interface is pretty much the exact same as UT. the speed and dueling seems awfully fast and quake3-ish. i highly doubt ill be playing this online (hell, i got sick of UT a loooong time ago, so why should i indulge myself in the SAME gameplay once again?) they only reason i'd get the full game is for the new unrealed, of course.

the only thing that is truly different is the engine, which is very impressive. with fully details it was actually somewhat playable on my gf2. some sections of the map had so many details that i couldn't take it all in at once. crazy!

cant wait to map for this.

I think UT2k3 is pretty damn cool. Not too much different from standard UT fare, which is all right since UT is good. Bomb Run is an interesting gameplay, kind of like the UT mod Frag Ball. It kinda sucks that it's too easy to die when you're at the goal, though, that frustrated me a lot. And maybe this is a consequence of the fact that we were playing with really easy bots, but my friends found it too easy to go on mad rampages with the lightning gun. I don't think either of them really had scoring a goal as their first priority

Graphicswise, it's really good, and I'm impressed that it runs well on my dinky little 16 MB graphics card. (I'm far from the highest detail level, but even at this point it looks a lot better than HL.) Weapons models aren't the best, but the maps and textures look really good.

The engine has amazing potential, and for a Deathmatch game, UT2K3 does exactly what it promised. Maybe not a classic, but a very well done game.

I am looking forward to seeing what the engine has to offer in terms of mods and other games.

Okay, I just played my first few matches against bots. The voice taunts are getting on my nerves already. Their's really no point have such pretty graphics in such a fast paced DM blaster as it's all such a blur most of the time. Now if they would just make a nice suspencefull single player game with those graphics.

While many of you (Including me, to some point) consider this more of a 'graphics update' than a new game, you must realize some things.
Look at how much work went into everything, the static meshes (map models), the physics, the textures (most, I hear are 1024x1024), the player models, the skins, the sounds, what does it all add up to? A lot of time, effort, and of course, quality.
I dont like the gameplay much myself, but surely Im going to pick this one up and make it my next game to start mapping, and start a mod for.
I am planning out a mod, if you guys are interested, give me a message on here, or check my profile for message programs.  Here's what our team is so far;
- 2 mappers
- 2 modellers
- 1 2d artist
- 1 other guy for ideas, concepts, and some other things
Setting is around 2050... and of course if you're interested, ask and you will get more information on the topic
