<div class="IPBDescription">About ns/internet</div> I am not new to ns or the internet but the following questions are on both.
Some I have a vague idea about (these are in brackets) but I need
clarification on all.

1. What is Steam and how is it related to ns?
(I believe it allows users to download products from Valve via their
connections).
2. What is an irc? (I think it is some kind of chat channel).
3. In ns, what is the big deal about marine squad #5? Does it give the
marines in that squad extra firepower or something?
4. What does 'afk' stand for?

and the really silly one

5. When is ns 2.1 coming out?

    1. steam is the latest offering from Valve, and you dont have to worry about it at the moment. NS 2.1 will run on steam, it is, at its basics, a replacement for the old WonID system. With a few extra features.

    2. IRC = Internet Relay Chat. most poplar program used is <a href='http://www.mirc.com' target='_blank'>mIRC</a>. Connect to servers (gamesnet, quakenet) Join channels such as #natural-selection (gamesnet) to talk to the n-s.org guys.

    3. When a marine is assigned to a squad, a sound plays telling them this fact. The sound for squad 5 is simply cooler that any other squad sounds.

    4. AFK = Away From Keyboard, A Free Kill. Basically means the guy is going for a dump and will be back soon. In the meantime, frag him as much as possible
