Flayra, very simple reason the poll is 2/1 marines

Very simple indeed.
Aliens are supposed to be a more deathmatchy sort of team, correct?
Deathmatch people are generally lurkers (at best) and don't hang around forums.
Therefore, you're only getting the forum member's opinion vs. that of EVERYONE ELSE who is going to play (And if they're not hanging around the forums, or at least posting once in their life, there's a good chance they'll be the deathmatch type.)
So basically you appealed to a Teamwork audience in a Deathmatch vs Teamwork poll.
It'll even out in the end, trust me.

Also keep in mind that people are bound to change their minds about what team is preferable. Just because they think the marine team sounds cool right now... doesn't mean that they're going to like the team better once they actually try both sides out. Regardless, I too am willing to bet aliens and marines will both be played about the same. I honestly think it's highly unlikely that uneven teams are going to be any more of a problem that they are in other games/mods.

Exactly. Like 3/4 of the playtesting screenshots are from the marine side, so we don't hear as much about all the tricks the aliens have up their slimy metaphorical sleeve. I'd personally like to see some more of them in the future.
Edit: or should I say, *ignoring* fire from the entire team.

Maybe its just because they are alien and so you cant really guess there limits. Marines are alot easier to imagine, after all they are just human and the technologies they have are nothing we havent already imagined.

At the same time, I'd love to see some of you new people discover the sheer feeling of power that you get from chomping on an expensive and intricate marine base while being fired upon, or by tossing fully-grown humans aside like stuffed animals with your massive claws. It's something else entirely.
But I chose the aliens, anyway. I dig the idea of being able to play such a huge variety of player types in a single game. :)

i would think the novelty would come from the aliens side, considering the marines (in many iterations), or a class like them are in almost every FPS game ever created (minus the RTS side, i suppose)
Well, to hell with it. People picked marines because they have horrible taste, low IQs, and ugly faces.

AND IM NOT A LURKER
*sidenote: QUAKE RULES (?)*
That's quite a sweeping, generalised, and rather insulting statement to make.
