Just figure rougly 2 kilos to the pound. (It's really 2.22 but close enough)

    Er.. you mean 2 pounds to a kilo.. <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->
2 kilos to a pound would mean we would be having 35 pound marines according to the list <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif'><!--endemo-->

I'd say average marine weighs something like 75kg and with armor/weapons over 85kg. Skulk 40 sounds nice. HA definately weighs more than Fade. Armor is much more heavier than any flesh/bone there could be in fade. Lerk 25kg sounds pretty right too. Gorge could weigh almost as much as LA marine, so depending on how much res he's carrying; 70-80kgs. Onos, having a lot of thick bone around it's body, prolly weighs more than 3 HA's. Maybe even 4. HA maybe weighing 200kgs, one Onos would weigh as much as a small car. Around 1000kgs. Sounds right.

    Edit: So...many...typos <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

    comon guys its not complicated,
    converting fire eels post.
    Name kg pounds
    Skulk : 40kg - 88
    Gorge : 80-100kg 177
    Lerk : 25kg 55
    Fade : 200-250kg 440-550
    Onos : 3000+kg 6613+

    LA : 75kg - 165pounds
    Jet : 80kg 176
    HA : 150kg 330

now i think most of ur aliens are overweight.
a skulk is about the size of a german shepard,
thats like 20kg or 40 pounds,
a gorge defies weight because where does he fit all those oc's?
but he looks like max of 35kg or 80pounds.
fade, i can agree with you i spose,
but onos? about the size of a small elephant?
you know elephants cant jump... onos can...
dinosours used to have hollow bones so they can jump,
like t-rex. maybe onos like this, as such he prolly only weigh less than a bull
    or 650kg -1234pounds

lerk? a large bat! less than 8kg or 18pounds

what do u think of my estimates
  • Fire_EelFire_Eel Join Date: 2003-08-19 Member: 19950Members
er............a T-Rex was about slightly larger than a full-grown African Bull Elephant.

    T-Rex : 8000+ kg
Male Bull Elephant : 5000+ kg

I once read in a book that a T-Rex weighted only 4000 kg and a hippo weighed 5000 kg!!! THAT BOOK IS SCREWED UP!!!

Short list of heaviest animals around.

    Liopleurodon : 150 tons*
    Blue Whale : 180 tons*
    Giant Squid : (?)4(?) tons*
    Megalodon : 48 tons*

    *tons = 1000 kg
  • BenaiahBenaiah Join Date: 2003-11-11 Member: 22517Members
yeah but look at that onos,
its as agile as a dartfish. jumps like jordan and runs like a fox.
i dont think that something that weighs 5tonnes can do that!

then again you would have to be pretty hefty to shite out a 200kg HA
  • Nil_IQNil_IQ Join Date: 2003-04-15 Member: 15520Members
Oh come on, these marines arn't average people (the average for a full-grown guy is about 80kg IIRC), they're going to be pretty big guys.

I'd say possibly 85-90kg WITHOUT armour.

I think 200-250kg for a fade is a bit much, I was thinking in the realms of 120-150; a bit more than an armoured up guy. Well it DOES blink around like a freak (and it is), so it can't be all that heavy.

As for the skulk I think 40kg is about right.

25kg lerk....... yeah, that would work. As long as you're not using the lerklift plugin <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

Umm, guys? A lot of you have been pointing to the fact a fully-laden gorge should way a lot more because of the resources... but then, any other alien can carry just as much, it's just only a gorge can convert them into structures!

Theoretically, any kharaa should, when fully laden, have extra weight equal to the weight of a fresh onos, because they use that many res to evolve into it. That means an onos with 100 res should weigh as much as *2* empty onos'...oni... onuses... Whatever.

I would say that a skulk might weigh about 15 kilos max, becuase they are abou the size of a cat and cats rarely weigh over 15 kilos
Gorges- they are hardely larger than the skulk, they are stockier so i might say 25-30 kilos, but not 300- thats WAYYYYYYY to big

and lerks-they are FLIERS this means that they have to weigh very little, besides the fact that without wings they are smaller than a skulk, i would guess that they are about 5 kilos becuase of hollow bones (like a bird)

Fades- about 75-100 kilos- theyre about the sized of a human

Oni- probably around yes 3000 kilos- there atleast 6 tons- apprx the size a very lare elephant i think
  • BenaiahBenaiah Join Date: 2003-11-11 Member: 22517Members
i was just joking about the gorge and res weight.

but the lerk cant weigh 25kg.
there is nothing on earth that weighs 25kg and can still fly!!!
+greater weight requires bigger wingspan, so b4 u say its an alien
it would need like awingspan of 4m!
that wont let it fly in a vent.

Most of those are little too much in my opinion. Heres my list

Skulk: 25kg (its small and full of flexible stuff, even humans can weight 40kg easily. Skulks in my opinion ae the size of regular dog but not the exact mass)
Gorge: 70-100kg is nice (its not the gorgies fault, its biological thing. They have that extra stuff to build from)
Lerk: 10kg (have you seen how thin that lerk is? And those wings could ever carry more than that. All birds are extremely light and even 2m wide eagles are nothing but bones)
Fade: 130kg (it reminds human, just littlebit bigger and stronger, some muscles and claws and things like that to add the weight)
Onos: 3000kg+ (Hard to say anything around here, its the size of couple cows or elephant. So propably its more than a regular car)

LA: 85kg (Even I weight 70kg! That stuff on them is easily 7-15kg, trained hunks arent any lightweight bureaucrats)
Jet: 95kg (Even 10kg jetpack is made out of paper)
HA: 200kg+ (Now were talking about business! *ga-chunk, ga-chunk, ga-chunk* sounds like heavy servomotors, im guessing nano-tech armor isnt as light as it should)

The biggest flying dinosaur weighted more than 75 kg...........its wingspan was 15m......................think again.

Oh yeh, I realised a skulk is in fact almost as big as a human! I mean it! Next time when a marine dies, call a skulk to stand next to the dead marine and you will see what i mean <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

I'm going to assume the aliens are much more dense than any earthly creature, and therefore more heavy. As for a comparison, a skulk would weigh more than a marine (based on the fact that it can easily push one around.) <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

I had that originally written and I figured a 200 pound gorge and an 80 pound skulk were rediculously overweight, so I thought I had it wrong.I think it's far more practical to halve all his alien weights, in that case.
