<div class="IPBDescription">'the 9weapon'</div> Hey guys
I just registered here but I've been following these boards for a while now, NS as well <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
I made this one 2 weeks ago, it's the 9weapon as seen in Ghost in The Shell

pc is rather high, so I dunno what I'll do with it
I was thinking of releasing it for HL2 in someway,
but if I turn down the amount of detail (esecially the screws) it might be quitable for NS too
unless you guys want it like this? <_<
c&c pls, anybody willing to mesh?
p.s. I used the refs that I found in here somewhere, thanks to whoever uploaded them <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

Comments
It's Sheena Yanai you would be thanking for the references. She'd also be able to tell you a hell of a lot more about the accuracy of the details [she literally knows that thing inside-out by heart], for which I am eternally envious.
As far as I'm concerned, the higher the poly count, the better, but that's just me, who usually comfortably avoids meshing anything with that many polies. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->
To release here, you're liable to need to use the multiple-reference-SMD trick.
Once I'm done with my LMG hack job [or in the meantime, depending how I'm feeling], I'd like to mesh that. I have some experience with meshes and tend to not try to jam EVERYTHING in to a 256x256 map. That said, though, I would like something in return that can be discussed at a later time.
No, you filthy children, it's got nothing to do with sex. Jeez. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
You would think pressing your hand up against the bottom edges of those metal plates on the side [you can see them jutting down above the grip] would be irritating after a while...
we're on the same level I think
I also prefer a lot of detail, big meshes (512x512) with enough place for each part and I know about the reference trick to compile it <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->
here's a ref for those who don't know the gun:
<img src='http://www.genom.myby.co.uk/genom/punk/ghost/9weapon.jpeg' border='0' alt='user posted image'>
would make a kewl lmg replacement
oh, and if possible, we can always delete the faces you won't see in the v_ model <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->
I don't have any problems with a hi-poly v-model but the peewees should be much much lower poly because you tend to see quite many of them at the same time. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
some minor problems.. the scaling..
fix the space where the grip is attached on the weapon, the the side plates are no plates at all.the lower section of the "plates" are closed on the underside. i mean "U" shaped |_| . as you can see the grip does not pass the line of the "plate" that means there have to be something solid on this point..the grip cant float you know <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> the "Kulbena Zastaba Nosle Czn-m22" is able to pop up its upper section and allows to replace the barell and receiver mechanics to use HV-hot rounds (the unit-b fieldkit).. this means that the weapon needs to be seperated into 2 sections..a upper and a lower section.. ive marked the upper section blue.. the whole section (light blue) can be popped up (end position is green) the axis and locking mechanism ive marked with the red arrow.
the rest that is left white is static. as you can see now the lower section of the side plates is a lil bit wrong on your model.. the plates ending way more up on the sides of the model, on the inside of the plates sits the covered "U" shaped lower section that is static..
<img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/uploads/post-19-1068569971.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image'>
oh, and I know the weapon can be opened, but since that would never be done ingame I didn't mind that <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->
thanks for the comment <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
I'm an idiot. Ignore me D;

there should be a weapon upgrade animation <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
or what about a idle animation..where the weapon pops up and the marine checks if the mechanics are still there..lol
anywayz, modeling the inside would eat another few thousand polies <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> so nah
oh oh, when this ever gets released I hope def_one wants to animate, love his work <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
i see that gun in another mod (i think it was from ghost ops ?)
but very cool btw
oh and btw r u skinning it
i bow down and praise thee miniuzi greatness.
Wich renderer did u use?
Is it the :
"finalRender Stage-1"

well maybe it can be coded that the upgrade animation uses a totaly different model so the regular v model you see doesnt have the insides modeled

No offense, but that's one stupid looking gun. God, it looks like a Mac-10, with some absurd top-mounted iron sights, and a badly-attached and completely unnecessary bullpup assembly. I mean, it even has a seam where it looks like a little SMG glued to a brick. And what's with the stock? I'd need to hold my arms way out to put that stupid little pad against my shoulder.
its a over the top high tech weapon system that accepts a wide varity
of different ammo types, but you have to replace the whole barell and
receiver internals in field, to make it easier the weapon can be opend like a swiss army knife.
<img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/uploads/post-19-1068633114.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image'>
the barell and receiver mechanism is build into 2 modules u can pull out of the weapon.
in the iron sight is the loading handle and its mechanism build in,because you dont
have to replace it.its fixed to the top section of the gun. the bullpup configuration
isnt unnecersarry,because this weapon is specified as assault rifle. with this config
the weapon can keeped short (the weapon is shorter than it apears on the pic,it got
almost the same size as the norinco qbz-95 assault rifle),because the barell is within
the weapon,and reaches back till to the magazine.and the pad on the stock got a
build in gas shock absorber. the magazine holding mechanism is mounted far outside
of the weapon because it contains a build in adaptor that accepts different magazine
types,and would take way to much space within the weapon plus it makes the replacement
of the firing mechanism easier,because the magazine adaptor havent to be replaced.
the "seam" as you call it is a heat shield to enlarge the weapons signature to get the
heat away from the front part of the barell where the gas mechanism is located.
to mention the ironsight again,it is a practical design ,and i dont see why it should be absurd.
. you could remove it,but then you would still have the block on top wich contains the
loading mechanism,and the guiding rods that goin down to the gas mechanism.

in fact this is a very slim and practical design,reduced only to the most important components.
slim and light. it does not have one of those streamlined mickymouse plastic bodys like
other weapons,and the ergonomics are amazing.and unless its simple concept its very
flexible because of its modularity...
i think the m22 is one example what gun design realy means... it dont have to be a beauty,
it just have to be superior in its own way
ugly gun
Anywayz, because of school, I don't have a lot of free time during the week, so sry if I'm not around here all the time, maybe these replies can make it up ? <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->
<ul>
@ Drake: Yeah, gits is something unique alright, glad you like it, I like your work as well. Ghost ops uses the same gun and is easily one of my favourites of there arsenal. I'm not gonna skin it, cuz I can't skin <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
@ DocterJ: /waves
@ Dillinja: I used 3dsm5 + Brazil 1.0 Final. I gotta give full credit to the great modeler Firegold, he was the one who made the lighting for the scene <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->
@ The amazing Al Gorge: Everybody is free to release it on any NS site, as long as the credits are correct. Nice site btw <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> (is your name Al Gorge in NS? I once played on a server with you hehe)
@ uranium - 235: What? Doesn't look like a mac-10 at all, you even know what a mac-10 looks like? lol. It looks more like a mix between a FN P90 (grip) and (less but also) a FAMAS (clip and main shape). Anywayz, it's a personal thing to like or dislike, so np man
@ sheena yanai: you rock. period
</ul>
there, hope that clears some things up <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
but is wasnt
What's this little thingie? I can't figure it out. Sheena? (see attachment)
<span style='color:gray'><span style='font-size:8pt;line-height:100%'>or should I just not model it?</span></span>
/EDIT: Also, =DD=Wolf Kahler, are you still willing to mesh my baby? If you are, i'd like a very good mesh, with each little thing and piece meshed, on a few (at least 3) 512x512 maps
The bigger the meshes, the better the quality and detail of the skins
please, if I could get this skinned, that would rock <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
