Massive Hack Job
I've been working on this for a few weeks, off and on. It's an LMG of some sort. No, I won't be releasing it until I get the details right. Mostly what's left is to get some animations right, put the hands on and figure out the whole smoothing thing that I've never really messed with before. If anyone's got any pointers on smoothing groups to throw out off-handedly, I'd appreciate it.
*EDIT* Yes, I am intending to do some skin edits. If not myself, then someone else. This'll probably take a little bit.

Have you tried with a solid-walled clip? I dont really like that one..
If this project goes as well as I'd like, I'm thinking of modelling something from scratch. Meshing it. Maybe skinning it at least partly myself.
Thats usually what a uberhack is.

It is. Well of a replacement actually. Cant remember who made it though. He's squished it horizontally so it looks better.
At this time there's nothing entirely original about the model. It's all pieces I've taken from other models, as Private Coleman said, but I have had to make some small edits to certain pieces because there were errors in the modelling [especially the M4, amazingly, which had backwards polies, empty spaces, useless polies, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera--it was really a mess] and meshes, a lot of which were heavily creeped or just badly assigned [as anyone who's worked on converting the AvP2 shotgun should understand--that's the worst mesh job I've ever seen].
The barrel has an integrated silencer, as far as I'm concerned, so I'll be including appropriate sounds. I'm aware that some people will complain about this, but that's how I want it. I find the nozzle looks sweet this way.
Instead of having all the hundreds of textures from all the models listed above lazily stuffed in the MDL when it gets compiled, I've taken the pieces from each texture that I'm using and distributed them all across five 512x512 textures, so there's a minimal drag in that respect. However, I'm not going to compile it with its textures in a seperate model since you never have more than one V_model on-screen and that's what seperate texture files are for.
With the LA hands, it's up to 3727 polies, which is obviously more than a lot of people can handle and I'm sorry. If I were modelling this from scratch, I probably would have used fewer [the bipod and XM stock both have cylinders with inordinate amounts of polies for some crazy reason], but I'm not and I don't have the patience to completely remodel it in order to get optimal poly-usage. Some kind soul might jump in to save the rest of you from the horror of the high poly count.
