Heh, at least you have a demo disk <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->. But, from what I hear, Savage ain't worth it anyway.

god damn those people that hype games to much!

Someone told me it was better then NS... i was "Pshhht, no its not NS is god" then i lit my cerimonial candle in honor of NSs presence in our conversation.... and then got a CD to see this so called "better" game.

It's subjective whether the actual game itself is or isn't better than NS, but in terms of the technical execution of the game there is no contest. Savage runs terribly, NS runs extremely smoothly.

Because it's on a 9 year old Engine. With low quality models, and such.

That might be why NS runs smoothly, but it isn't why Savage runs terribly. Savage suffers from severe lag issues. Actual ingame computer slowness type lag isn't quite so bad.

Savages doesn't run well because it wasn't written well. Even under optimal conditions it's frustrating (optimal being an ADSL connection to a local server).

Well, if you have a sub 1.5ghz machine well, you don't play many new games anyway <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

Theres a reason I like savage. Balance, performance(for my machine) and graphics.
NS is nice because sometimes games are balanced, it manages to look nice and always give me 100fps, and its alot more social.

    To each his own.

Am I the only NS player that likes savage and hasnt' had huge "running" issues? It's always been fairly smooth for me.

For some reason I can't remember exactly, but from what I remember Half-Life was released in '98. Of course, I'm most likely wrong....

Oh yes. And Savage is great fun for a while. While it is ertainly not as fun as NS (to me, at least), it is a very fun game that is worth many hours of your time. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

He could be referring to the fact that the Halflife engine is actually the Quake engine with some other stuff glued to it, but I can't recall when Quake was released and totally can't be arsed to google for it.

    *lazy*

If the Half-Life engine is 9 years old because it was built on Quake (which was '96ish, I believe), so is every other engine out there - everything builds on what came before it anyway.

Old or no, the Half-Life netcode has no equal that I've yet seen. Plain and simple.

This is how bad I am. I saw the title and mine eyes deceived me. I thought it said "Aint Life a Garand?".

    But..

Yes, Savage is fun if you have a good machine. The netcode is bearable, but when your a small company releasing your first product into the market, what can be expected? If I remember, it wasn't until Valve patched HL that the netcode was friendly.

    Same here.

Yes, I'm referring to the fact the HL Engine's a hyped Quake Engine.
