Big Problems

<div class="IPBDescription">Can't do anything now</div> Ok so about a week ago I started having alot of problems with NS, I think it may have been due to one of the steam updates. All of a sudden I could not switch weapons or type. I tried switching weapons various ways and the only way i could was if I dropped my main weapon(only worked for rine). Needless to say it was hard to play with one weapon/ability and without being able to communicate. Also I had the "maxerrordistance" and the unreadable pop-up menu.

So after a few frustrated attempts to fix this I decided to uninstal Ns and reinstall it again hoping this might help. Well Now I'm even worse off... When i join a server nothing works! I can't even move, type, pull up a menu or anything. Its like the games not detecting my keyboard commands. I reinstalled it and still the same problem.

Any help would be appreciated....

    I'm not having a good time with steam either. It says I don't pass validation or something.     Either download and install the 2.0 steam beta, located <a href='http://www.natural-selection.org/beta/ns-v20steambeta.exe' target='_blank'>here</a>, (Delete your current NS dir in your steam before installing), and if that doesn't fix it, wait for 2.1.

    2.1 will be steam only and WILL work perfectly.

    Aren't we on 2.01 right now anyways, cant be too far away.

    I downloaded that, and now I can join games - but everything looks horrible....God if I could only find my HL cd.

    Okay, I fixed everything and the game looks almost as good with only a few minor problems. Like some marine buildings are red, and the likes. Now why is it that I can't connect to some servers? The refresh list only shows like 35, and when I try and connect to my normal server through IP I get a validation error. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Hmm, no idea, are you sure it's steamed? Also, there's a little trick to filtering NS servers in steam.

    Start steam, open the main menu. Click servers, and click change filters so that the menu pops up with game, region, etc.

    Now hold down ctrl + shift + alt. Now press b while holding those. A little menu will pop up.
    Now click the dropdown menu after "Game" where you can select CS, TFC, DOD, etc. Now go back to that menu that popped up when you pressed all those buttons, scroll down a bit till you see "Editable".
    Make editable 1 instead of 0, then click save or exit. It'll go read error, now you can enter "NS" in the menu, and you can filter it through the server tab.
    This'll work for a while, when it doesn't anymore just repeat.
