<div class="IPBDescription">why arent they working...</div> Okay so far ive tried 2 diffrent tuts for these tools and they still arent working...which sucks. Cause that limits me to right angles...and stuff....

Anyways...if anyone could help me out a bit here...I'd like to know why its not working so I can have a decent looking Hive and hallways.

    Mkay...i fixed the clipping tool...I hate shared comps someone was messing with stuff. (why oh why did my computer's motherboard, videocard, AND DVD-CD have to stop workign at the same time!?!)

    Anyways Im having issues with the Vertex still. For somereason it behaves like the selector (oh im using Hammer btw) is on as well and when I try to click on a node it decides to just make a box and not let me drag the ends.

    Any ideas?

    The vertex tool and the clipping (i presume you mean carve) tool work in different ways. The carve tool requires that you select the brush you want to edit first whereas the vertex tool allows you to select the brush once the tool is selected.

    When using the vertex manipulation tool, select the brush and it will draw a white box around the brush in the 3D view and make the vertices themselves visable, select the vertices that you wish to manipulated and edit them in the 2D windows.

    Might i ask, are you using VHE 3.4 or 3.5? There's a possibility, if you're using 3.5, that it's a bug since the 3.5 release is only a beta, if the problem persists, try the more stable 3.4 release.

    Clip and carve are two different tools.

    Could you explain what you're having trouble with?

    i'm putting together a tutorial that uses vertex manipulation, with any luck it should be done sometime this friday 07 november.

    Just harass me to get it finished if its not here this friday <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Sorry, i always thought that the clip tool was the carve tool, since what it essentially does is cut or carve. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    But i was thinking of the right tool in my post. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I asked for a tutorial on using vertex manipulation. A very nice person answered my topic with a very comprehensive guide, it's quoted below...

    <!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->

    Here you go:

    OK! First, you make or load up the room you want your infestation in.
    The you choose the infested texture.
    Now. Make a brush along the whole wall where you want the infestation
    select the clipping tool. Clip it like this first:

    <img src='http://www.csm.sndev.com/kabelen/pictures/infestwallguide/infwall1.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image'>

    Now clip it like this:

    <img src='http://www.csm.sndev.com/kabelen/pictures/infestwallguide/infwall2.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image'>

    And like this:

    <img src='http://www.csm.sndev.com/kabelen/pictures/infestwallguide/infwall3.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image'>

    When you know have clipped it done, you select the vertex manipulation
    tool and move the corners of the triangels in a way that does that the
    triangles aren't all like. Like this:

    <img src='http://www.csm.sndev.com/kabelen/pictures/infestwallguide/infwall4.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image'>

    Now you see that each triangle has a diffrent size and form.
    Here comes the most tricky part, to make it look good. First, you
    select all the triangles that is in contact with the floor, and you put
    them 96 units out from the wall, like this:

    <img src='http://www.csm.sndev.com/kabelen/pictures/infestwallguide/infwall5.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image'>

    Know do the same with all the triangles in contact with the ceiling:

    <img src='http://www.csm.sndev.com/kabelen/pictures/infestwallguide/infwall6.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image'>

    Know, with the vertex tool, make the triangles not go in a straight
    line on the floor, something like this:

    <img src='http://www.csm.sndev.com/kabelen/pictures/infestwallguide/infwall7.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image'>

    Do the same thing in the ceiling.
    After you now are done with the ceiling and floor triangles, make all
    the triangles become "one part" with moving all the corners againts each
    other with the vertex tool, and when you are done it will be something
    like this:

    <img src='http://www.csm.sndev.com/kabelen/pictures/infestwallguide/infwall8.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image'>

    If you know aren't happy with the result, you can work a little more
    on it and see if it gets better, then I'm sure it will be fine!

    I hope this is any help to you, 'cause I spent 3 quarters of my time off to write this for you.

    <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

    Props go to Kabelan for the guide, I am but a messenger <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
