Classes

<div class="IPBDescription">And the first day of school</div>I just thought I'd start a friendly little thread that won't go very far.  I just got back from school an hour or so ago, and it  wasn't the best day at school, but it wasn't the worst.  My first class was Economics, a subject I find very interesting (I enjoy the social studies subjects).  On top of my liking of the subject my teacher is a wide eyed Irishman who talks like Christopher Walken, making him amusing.  Just imagine Christopher Walken, but with an Irish accent, if the pauses and the way he talks weren't enough, the accent makes it nearly hilarious.  My second period is Computer maintenance and repair, this class is going to own.  Troubleshooting, building your own computer, etc, pretty easy.  Third period is WoodtechII with a grizzled old creepy teacher who has an occasional Nam Flashback, and fancies himself to be funny.  Fourth period is English IV with a short, wrinkly old woman who I haven't heard much of, but doesn't seem so bad.  Fifth is Psychology with a dude with a buzzcut/mullet/ponytail, you figure out what it would look like, plus he's a pretty cool guy so that's fun.  Sixth period is Art I because there were no other classes open and I got stuck in there, the teacher is an INSANELY bad speller, and on top of that there's 3 Zach's in that class (that's my name, btw).  Since Zach isn't a common name, 3 of them in one class is a phenomenon of some sort.  Well, there you go there's my schedule, anyone have any odd or cool classes or anything?

I'm stuck in drama because of a schedule confliction. And some freak accident (i.e. me being to smart for my own good) landed me in advanced math. More than 1/2 of my teachers are new to the district.

Good thing you're going back to school, looks like you need the English class (no offense is trying to be communicated, just trying to state the obvious truth)

lol gazaar.  My classes are in this order, and suck all the way down (only 1 class i have friends in, and that's speech/english.)

Period 1: Wellness 3 (ugh... health)
    Period 2: Speech/English 10 (i hate public speaking :x)
Period 3: US History (:D i like learning about history)
Period 4: Comp. Applications (eh, it's ok.)
Period 5: Multimedia (really cool class, tons of video editing and etc.)
Period 6: Biology (science is cool, i think.)
    Period 7: Algebra 2 (I hate... math.)

Bah bah bah... thats my schedual, and first quarter school = the suck. <!--emo&:(--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('><!--endemo-->

Whoa, your classes are really mixed up.  What grade are you in?
  • TzarconTzarcon Join Date: 2002-02-28 Member: 259Members
I'm still taking that basic Junior high schedual. Gym, English, French, History, Math, Science, etc. Why, you ask? Becuase I'm still IN Junior high, silly! Computers is an aweful class, because they treat everyone like "ok, kids, this is how to click a mouse, this is the space bar! Now everyone go practice your typing..." Science is really fun though, especially since we have the coolest of all science teachers. French is better this year, because its not so bloody early I can actually learn something and not get Ds. Math r teh suck, dont like, no. English is fun when we do writing and speaking. I liek to write, as many of you know.

What is a "Wellness" class?  Is that some sort of Phys Ed or something?

BTW, I only have one class this semester.  Engineering Economics.  Just plain fascinating.  Actually it's not that bad.  2 hours a week to learn the ins and outs of how banks totally screw you out of money.

If you guys are still in high school, you should appreciate the computer classes you have access to.  The extent of my computer classes involved basic programming on a Commodore 64.  "oooohhh look at the cool sprite bounce around the green or amber screen!"

I'm in grade 9 so basicly all my coarses are standard. And Tzar, I know the feeling. Last year the schedule my teacher had up included make web page and I thought, "Good, teach these underknowledged people some HTML." Alas it was not to be, she made us use geo-cities, in fact one someone asked if they could make it in raw code she forbid it. Apparently learning how to use crappy newb friednly free hosting services is more important than parctical knowledge.

Tzarcon, I'm just curious.  Besides it might release some of the stress of going back to school for some people by talking about it.  Well, not really, but  it would be helpful <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

*shiver* I know those kinds of teachers.

I had a project a while ago where we had to present a great deal of information on the french revolution...

Well, since our teachers were expecting some sort of geoshits, My site looked so professional to my teacher that he thought I had copied it from somewhere online.

I sat him down with my page on disk, and showed him how I had coded it.

Well, the moron decided I was just guessing, so he decided to give me a detention and <b><span style='color:red'>WATCH ME CODE THE WHOLE DAMN THING OVER AGAIN!</span></b>

Thats right, all the framesets, all the formatting, all the links, all the images, and <b><span style='color:red'>ALL THE JAVASCRIPT!!!!</b></span>

When I produced a product of greater quality right in front of his eyes, he jsut kind of stuttered and stared in disbelief. I just got my books and left.

    Anyway:

    1st: Scientific (honors) Chemestry
Sucks, even though there's a bunch of attractive ladies there.
    2nd: Scientific Learning center:
Sucks so far, allegedly a Flash/Director8/3D Studio tutorial course, but so far we're just writing Word documents....
    3rd: Spanish 3
    Not too bad.
    4rth: Honors Algebra 3
Cool class. It's a senior-oriented class, and me being a soph.... Still, good teacher, lots of female seniors.
    5th: Lunch
    Meh....
    6th: Lang arts:
Decent class, taught by a woman with hands so long she can put her wrist on her chin, and reach up and touch the top of her head.
    7th: programming:
Basic so far, just Pascal, but we're doing C++ 2nd semester.

    Aaaaanyway, thats my schedule.

I find the lunch period to be the most useless thing in history.  I would kill many baby monkeys to eliminate lunch from my school, so I could go home a half hour earlier.

Ouch! You know what's also annoying (though i think your story is just the painfullest of pain) is that the schools internet connection was so slow barley anyone got any time with the geo-cities program anyway. I had my computer loading it for the full hour and a half block and i got a total of 5 min with it before the bell went.

Well, in England we don't take specified courses as such until your'e 16, but we do get SOME kind of choice in the matter once you're 14 - so I'm taking english lit, english lang, maths, the sciences, business studies, french, german and R.E. (it's compulsory). I dropped art and drama, thank god...

I'm not sure in wich grade I would be in english countries (I'm 16 and in the secondary school)... Anyhow, here are my classes:
    STANDARD
German:  Talking. I like talking. Writing. Writing is not so good
    English: Also most time talking.
Latin  : I hate the grammar, but translating is easy.
Math   : Well, I've no problems, but I don't like it.
Physics: Better than math, we do experiments and such.
    P.E.   : I'm not good at it, but it's a nice change.
History: Its fun because were talking again.
Biology: Our teacher is a real freak. I'm sure he like human experiments...
    Social Sciens(?): Crazy. Talking. Fun.
    NON-STANDARD
Art    : I like art. I'm good at it, so it's fun for me.
Web-presentation: Doing things like PowerPoint and HTML. It just started, I'm not sure what to think of it...

Classes started for me a week ago(/me mutters curses under his breath).  I got classes anywhere between 10 am and 6 pm(yeah, they're spread out, but I like my lunch break).  I'm taking PHIL-2140 Intro to Logic (so easy it's evil), CSCI-4440 Software Design & Documentation (the real world?  the heck is that?), ECON-4120 Quantitative Methods (I wish my prof knew what he was doing), and CSCI-4150 Introduction to Artificial Intelligence (interesting, now I have to get used to coding in Scheme).  Yay.
