My armories don't heal me... you must be talking about those crappy plugins that make ns suck. Excuse me, i must go back to picking up 240 lb marines with my 100 lb lerk.
God I hate plugins like that. I wish people would just be content to play the game the way it was made. It isn't like the game needed lerk lifts or armory healing. I don't know, I just think it disrespectful for someone to take something someone's worked hard on, and make arbitrary changes.
mazer, if it's the same plugin as the European voogru server is using then it will heal 4 hp per use and more frequently when it has been upgraded to an advanced armory.
How is it disrespectful? Its not like the people who made the plugins are spitting in the NS team faces and saying "you made this game horrible, i'm going to make it better" Plugins are a way to add a little variety and fun to the game. And if the NS team thought that their game was perfect (and I think it is damn near perfect) they wouldn't have put up the Suggestions and Ideas forum.
It will heal as much as the admin sets it for. Really don't think people should bash on plugins so much... if you think it is not supported by the NS dev team, you're mistaken as their is a link on the community page to modns.org which is a forum site dedicated to working on such server mods. I don't really like plugins that change gameplay extremely, but that's just me. There are some pretty useful ones out there. We use some on our TeamHoward server. It's just a matter of preference.
Some of you may not like plugins because they "change the game", but let me remind you- or perhaps reveal to you- that long before NS 2.0 voogru had a plugin that allowed Sensory chambers to cloak their nearby buildings/players; thus making them some what useful in 1.0x.
Like it was already said- plugins like that are for variety and I deeply enjoy options.
Which doesn't go against my point really, if you were meaning to (I'm not sure if you're just pointing that out or what). People suggest all SORTS of things, and occasionally they are made into plugins. And/or into the game itself. So once again, I see no reason why any sort of "anti-plugin" thing should be implimented.
Variety for all!! You can simply play on one of the many vanilla servers if they are to your distaste =3
I dont really know if the healing armory is a good or bad thing at the moment. But with all the new stuff going in 2.1... I'm just going to say this "Dont fix anything that isnt broken."
btw: I think the replys are a little harsh.. there is nothing wrong with wanting a plugin.. I mean if you think about it NS is a plugin for Hl... they are not spitting in hl's face they are just giving variety to the game.
Well I think the marines need some structure that can heal them - yelling at the comm for a medpack usually nets me a "STHU - I need the res for upgrades" or the more polite " Please find somewhere more appropriate to die, thank you".
Even more annoying is the no medpacks for you, but medpacks rain on friends of the comm
I generally don't bother asking.
Prehaps a healing bay that comes at the same time the option for protolab becomes open - it would be intresting...choose proto for the weaps or medibay to keep your grunts tip top.
The aliens have it good in the healing dept. DC's liberally planted allow them to heal all over the place or a friendly gorge in the area to assist.
The only two plug ins I like are the /stuck one (a god send, can't remember how many times I built something next to the comm chair and got stuck) and the lerk lift, as it adds a bit of variety to the game play. As for the rest, I"m not fond of them. The armory health one I detest as that people hump the armory whenever they get one lill booboo. It's understandable if you are low on ammo or something and have to return to base anyways. Repair the little damage you have taken and replinish ammo. But I just see some of them making lamers even more lame. As for the comm not dropping medpacks, well, he may not feel you're worth it for whatever reason. I have no problem getting even the stingiest comm to drop me a medpack or two. But then, I'm always yelling at the comm to stop dropping me stuff as that it jynxs me and I die soon after, which happens 90% of the time...

I really don't mind plugins so as long as it doesn't really affect the game. For example, armory healing on this one server isn't active until you upgrade to an advanced armory. Which means you won't be getting healed till then. The only effect on the game is you get more armory humpers and the team saves a few res (from medpacks).
The worst plugin has to be the laser plugin that gave marines away. You don't see it anymore. Lerk lift is just funny.
Someone suggested electric armories... A 5 HP shock per magazine... think about it... humping... electric armory... huh... HUH?
