well in the origonal latin laguage. K, W, X, Y, and Z never existed. However C sounded like K, J sounded like Y, and V souned like W.

f can be replaced with ph in most cases.

This reminds me of the time I attempted to create a universal alphabet, one that could be used to represent every sound used in any spoken language simultaniously. When I was done I had roughly 36 letters and about 10 different accent marks.

Really. Then how would anyone find Charleston? Or eat a peach?
I guess everyone named Xavier (zay-vee-ur), or who plays the xylophone no longer exist. (And personally I'd rather not ekssist)
Similarly, the town of Zyzzyx will need a new name. And how will you have nothing, if you don't have Zero?

And less pointed, daquiris would be much sharper. But I honestly can't think of any particular argument for keeping Q around, other than that it looks much more elegant to ask a question than a kwestion.

What a relief that this isn't a repost of that oooooold humour article...

I think Japanese and English need to swap character sets. There are relatively few phonetic sounds in Japanese, but there are hundreds and hundreds of characters. Whereas there are many, many phoenetic sounds in English but very few characters. Also, if we're talking general usefulness as a character set, there are sounds which aren't in English which the English character set has difficulty with.

Basically it'd need to be extended, not made smaller:

cat, car, hate, dog, look, do, hit, height, pet, her, pea, hut. Also the "neutral" vowel sound: cirus.

Most of the consonants are pretty straight forward, but there's also:
chance, ship, whale (yes, the "wh" sound is actually a different pronounciation to "w"). Various language also need the gutteral "h" sound (often written as "ch").

Actually newspeak was centered around the removal of "un needed" expression, not making language incoherent

Thus "Excellent" In NewSpeak is "doubleplusgood" and in Quans language its "Eekssellent"
