There's only 2 ways of this happening and, at the current moment they both seem very rare, but...

    1. valve decides to officially sponsor this game and to make a port to console
    2. someone decides to buy the ps2 game development kit, from what I remember, it costs at least $1000, and makes a ps2 version of the game.

    Other than that, I don't see why/how it would make it to console. Look at how long it took them to get cs on console...

    One thing consoles manage to do to all FPS games, is make them not very good - many things make this true - unflexible controls - LACK of controls - TV screens just cant cut it for gaming at these standards - etc

    I had the PS2 versions of Half-life quake 3 arena and unreal tournament (all games i love on PC format) and you will notice i *had* them

    Darkfrost makes a very good point on this. How many Competitive FPS Leagues do you see up and running for FPS's on consoles? I don't know of any... at all. That just proves how inflexible consoles are for fps's. And don't any of you guys give me any of that Goldeneye for N64 nonsense. Sure I loved the game as well, but that didn't make the controls anywhere near as natural as a keyboard.

    <rant>
    ***I better stop before this becomes an Anti-Xbox rant... Can't stop...*** I don't mind the console it self, but just the stupid statement of how Xbox's are supposed to compete with PC's... What's that? Outdated already?

    I'll stop being a jerk, after all I am addicted to HALO, so I don't want to be a hypocrite.
    </rant>

    Anyway, it seems unlikely that NS will make its way onto any console, seeing as how it is not even really a game that you buy for the PC... Unless, as someone else said, it is adopted by VALVe.

    The problem is, aliens will win. Unless the commander has a mouse, it'll take too long to do everything with a controlpad. The day xbox comes out with a mouse and keyboard that work online (excluding the PSO one) im selling mine.

    FPS games on consoles suck bad. Really bad. I get so furious at them very quickly, how you have to use one analog for looking and one for moving or whatever... that's just so ... it's not as fluid as keyboard/mouse.

    The last console games I played were um... Metroid Prime and Zelda WW. Myself, I despise consoles. I hate them with a passion. Put any console game on my PC and it looks a million times better. Hell look. This is only 800x600, when I put it in 1600x1200 it owns.

    Anyways... NS on console would suck.

    Im waiting for NS on Half-life 2 engine. However, that means im gonna have to buy HL2 and upgrade. damn.

    Actually, you can play HL on an xbox.
    It takes a lot of patience, careful soldering, and did I mention patience?

    Its not terribly difficult if you take the approach that an xbox is just another PC with strange hardware. I never had the time to attempt such a task but it can be done.

    Officially? I highly doubt that NS will be going anywhere near a console. The gaming style just wouldn't work for such a medium.

    wow.. I'm pretty sure he didn't ask "what do you think of FPS games on consoles?", guys. he asked what the chances of NS being ported over are.

    it's not like the NS team could just port this game over to PS2 with a dev kit.. uh.. remember, this is a modifcation, not a standalone game. so that's illegal.

    I'd say a lot of it depends on..

    1) whether valve cares to make NS retail (not likely atm, if you ask me).

    and..

    2) how successful CS is on Xbox (that goes for any HL-mod-to-retail game).

    valve just picked up DoD for retail, and I dunno how well it did.. but somehow I doubt they'll take another game on with HL2 coming out soon. but it's possible. even if they do, though, I'd highly doubt you'd find NS on any console system any time soon.

    With the heavy patching that NS is still undergoing, it's not really feasible for the console market. Consoles have a notable lack of customisation.

    The dev team have said they will not be porting NS over to the HL2 engine. however, if someone wants to, they will give them thier full support

Will that allow you to add the extra features into NS that was being held back by the Half Life engine?

    Flayra : I'm dying to experiment with that engine. The problem is, it's not a simple "port". To really take advantage of it, the game would have to be completely redone. The artwork and levels would have to be thrown out and started over. The game itself would want to take advantage of all these new features, so just moving the core gameplay over to something prettier wouldn't be worth the effort either. Considerable effort would be needed to get NS running on HL2. That said, the team is anxiously hoping to work with it, when it's available. We aren't announcing what we're doing with the engine at this time.

QUOTE

There have also been many questions asked about VALVe's new HL2 engine ("Source"), and whether there are plans to bring NS over to it. That is a huge amount of work, and would require redoing all the artwork and levels at a bare minimum. This is something the team is considering, but haven't made any decisions on yet.

    So they haven't actually said they wouldn't, but it would be a whole lot of work, so dont hold your breath

    Your right. I apologize. In fact at the time I was about to rant a whole paragraph but I held myself back.

    As far as the topic starter's question, I highly doubt it. Read what some of the others have said you would understand what I mean.
