i just recently started playing ns and i can't get a lan server to allow other players in. the lan game runs but no one on the network can see it. can anyone help me please?
we have seven computers linked with two hubs connecting downstairs with upstairs. i'm only using the default icon shortcut that the ns install gave me. i'm running windows 2k and i have a firewall but even when disabled they still can't see the game server, even i can't see it on my list and i'm hosting. i tried running a dedicated server after downloading the ns v200 and v201. when dedicated my friends can see it on the list but they can't connect to it.
where is the +sv_lan suspose to be put at?
i play other mods such as dod, cstrike, vs, and esf and i have no trouble hosting those mods for my friends.
please help, i really want to run a lan game with my friends.
One idea is to not use the desktop shortcut. Start HL and then activate NS or use the NS shortcut in the start menu.
The +sv_lan 1 should be put in the command line... actually I think I heard that you should go into your server.cfg file and find the +sv lan 0 and change it to +sv lan 1

Also what does your server start line look like i.e you using +sv_lan ? What OS (linux/BSD/Windows) ? Are you running a firewall on the server etc
