To be honest, I don't see much wrong with MS. Windows XP is a very stable operating system, and I've tweaked it just the way I like it. I don't get the microsoft bashing either. People say 'They just want to steal your money.'

That's why I get great live chat support from them (I tried this out when it was brand new... they fixed my funky problem in less then 10 minutes), FREE, updates, FREE.

Software expensive? God forbid they actually want to... you know... make money...

I guess people just hate for the sake of hating.

I hate Linux zealots who hate Windows because its easier to use. Im not going to be sorry for the fact that I can easily install a program without using an archaic command console. Or for the ability to run any Windows program without the need to recompile the kernel and then setup a 600 line config file.

I don't care if Windows has security holes, thats why I have a firewall, and a router, and a virus scanner, and a spyware scanner. And aside from the router, all that stuff can be legally had for free.

Open source? Pfft, they have that stuff for Windows too. And guess what, theres even a free visual c++ program you can use, that command line gcc stuff just dosent do it for me.

Now heres the most ironic part about Linux. You can use all the programs you know and love on Linux, Microsoft Office, Photoshop, etc, using an emulation program called Crossover.... but you HAVE TO PAY FOR IT. Sure you can use Wine, if you don't mine spending hours tweaking its configuration so you can crappily emulate the programs you need.

You would think the Linux community would put a big emphasis on trying to lure people to linux by having built in reliable emulation for popular Windows programs. Instead they tell you tough luck, do it yourself or pay us to.

heh. At work we have a mac soley for ensuring how our site looks on a mac's browsers, and the other day a coworker had to move it out of the way. So he was fiddling with it and he says "so how do you shut one of these down?" and I'm quick to reply "Try to save something". I'm known as the office mac hater. heh. I even insist on washing my hands after touching it (as a joke of course, I'm not really that psycho).

They also think I'm a linux hater for some reason, and every time I say something like "oh okay, now i get that chmod thing" they're all like "OMG pwndid u r coming over to the LIGHT SIDE" and I'm like " ... I don't hate linux, it just doesn't run any games."

    yeah...

Actually mac can run half life and many other games. Its called Wine. Of course the quality doesn't compare to on the pc yet but it will, it has the open-source community on its side Also, linux pwnz, just cuz u don't like a terminal doesn't mean you should push it away. It is very powerful and a lot better than windows for servers.

Um.... great? Maybe you should ask yourself why you paid for an operating system that need so much extra protection. Or don't I really could care less if you use Windows for the rest of your life.

I'm going to assume your talking about Dev-C++, which uses gcc anyway. Oh, and linux has many IDEs for C++ and many other languages, just like windows. Open Source rocks. And some of use really like Open Source and choose to use OSS OSs too, if you don't want to fine.

Or you can use their OOS equivelents. Or you can use windows. Really, you can't fault an operating system because it can't cooperate with programs made for annother OS without a little tweaking or money. When was the last time you ran a native OSX app on Windows? Yeah, thought so.

But unlike Microsoft, we have no real insentive to "lure" people to using linux. Seriously man, if you hate it that much, don't use it, we don't want your kind anyway.
