sierra has no control over won.. sierra is owned by vivendi universal games... which means sierra is also publishing Half-life 2, and if you do some more research before blabbering your mouth. you'll find out Blizzard is also owned by vivendi universal

So what happens to me and my brother, who don't have internet on our computers at home. Only the family computer has internet, but Dad won't let games on it. (probably 'cause I already play enough games w/ my bro on our LAN) I already can't play CS 1.6 or other updated mods, and I can live w/ that...but not being able to play NS 2.1 'cause I don't have an internet connection. That's messed up. Valve needs to create a LAN alternative. Besides, doesn't it seem kinda strange that you HAVE to register and authenticate w/ Steam to play at all...it kinda makes me wonder about privacy.

I don't care if supposedly Sierra wouldn't have control over that when they are the publisher, i don't generally like Sierra Enymore. ill stick with Ut2004..
I just find the WON interface far easier to use...not because I like what WON does specifically, but because it lets me use the interface designed for and packaged with Halflife.
Steam does not let me use the built in Halflife menus, and makes me wade through its own mess of stuff.
I had to use Steam for the first time yesterday so I could do some Beta testing.
As soon as I got it going, I found it strange... everything was so much more complex, not to mention the fact I had the option to DL like 10 games (which I didn't bother to do). Once I joined a game and fixed my RES, I found that the STEAM interface was much, much nicer. The speed is 100 times faster and load times are almost not there.

I wouldn't generally term some of the finest moments in adventure gaming as 'Bullsh*t', but y'know, everyone's entitled to their opinion.......
Also, you are aware that Half-Life 2 is a VALVe product, developed and funded by VALVe themselves and has 0 to do with Sierra....
Probably not. We're not exactly what you'd call ready.
Publishing, yes, but the game's design, content and features has 0 to do with anyone but VALVe.........

The source to homeworld 1 has been released under the gpl, I'm sure someone's already working on an alternative.
