[mreg]onos Hitbox Show-er-upper!

Umbraed_MonkeyUmbraed_Monkey Join Date: 2002-11-25 Member: 9922Members
<div class="IPBDescription">what does reg in mreg mean, anyway?</div> Well, as you all know, the onos hitbox is a small rectangle on its middle. With the help of the dod dlls, Im wondering if someone can make the onos semi transparent, and make a solid bright green rectangular prism inside it...representing its hitbox.

I know there would be inevitable cries of unfair ness, but since the box is in the center of the onos, it wont be visible until the onos itself is in full view anyway.

If anyone needs a diagram to understand what I mean...Ill get out my mspaint <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Expect alot of flames for "not using the search nubcaek", since this idea has been suggested before. Alot. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

    eek..really? nubcaek goes search..

    edit: sorry, I searched for 'onos', 'hitbox' and both of em together, and I dont see anything of use. What was the conclusion in the other thread?

    While the hitbox for the Onos is decieving, a lot of people would frown upon this as a form of h4x, myself included.

    a) thread<span style='color:red'>s</span>
    b) While it was generally accepted (it's not really h4x...the onos is bugged and this is like a fix), nobody has really taken the effort to model it yet.

    So, anyone wanna model it? I've got waaaay too many projects (Test Dillinja's models, make red eyes for hell-o-nos, make sprites for Brig's HMG, make peewees for Brig's pistol) to do it myself.

    I can only assume that Monkey means something like this:

    I just use Maus' (I think it's Maus') Fade-Nos 1.0 ;p Basically it's a bigger, badder Fade that more accurately represents the Onos hitbox.

    I can upload the Player and V_ model if you'd like.

    The fade-onos is a good idea, but when its an onos, I still wanna see an onos. I believe this is best way to still see an onos, and yet be able to see where the hitbox is from any angle.

    That onos has chicken pox.

    thats the best way I can represent the way you make something semi-transparent in models <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I'd rather have a model of that cute onos that monkey & lucid drew <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    This was requested some time back by myself.

    I asked for alien models similar to Malambis' acidrocket, with a big blobby solid bit to represent the hitbox for ALL aliens.

    Someone tried it, claimed they didn't get it to work for the Onos, and thus decided not to release AT ALL. When pressured to give me what they had, they didn't bother. That'd be enf0rcer in the thread.

    <a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=19&t=48843' target='_blank'>THREAD</a>

    Perhaps PM enf0rcer for what is already out, or ask if any further work was done. Perhaps another modeller would be keen on trying.

    In the meantime try the Fade-nos.

    someone made a big badass red marine outline to stand for onos hitbox

    cannot find it
  • Umbraed_MonkeyUmbraed_Monkey Join Date: 2002-11-25 Member: 9922Members
    thx elchinesetourist, but I was looking for a specific kind of model, not just something else to represent the onos hitbox by.

    Oh well, this is irrelevant now that Max has fixed up the hitbox issues...go Max!

    I didn't know about this... so I opened up the model with HLMV and checked Hitboxes. Oh, I'm using a Custom Alien's Onos, I don't know if this effects it or not. I'm guessing this doesn't do the Hitbox bug any justice?

    Like, but not that.

    Im looking for a semi transparent onos, with a floating hitbox inside it. That way, youll know where to shoot when viewing from any direction. That onos only has a picture on the side <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    see original post/mspaint diagrams if it isnt clear <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    the problem is that if you shoot at the hurt box from the front, the bullets hit the front hit boxes and stop. They never reach the hurt box, which is why onos dont die when they charge towards you. You have to shoot the onos from the side to kill it, where the bullets hit the hurt box instead of the hit box

    You could always size down the onos so it fit the hitbox better. I think you can do that in HLMV <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Hlmv doesnt use the hitboxes of the in game models, it creates new hitboxes according to its bones or something. They arent real.

    Really... what version is the onos fixed?

    The soon to be released 2.1, if you've been following the changelog.

    What if I size down the onos model, would make it smaller, but at least you know where to shoot.
