lol... (coder joke... nothing special... <!--emo&::nerdy::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/nerd.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='nerd.gif'><!--endemo--> ) anyways, this is the first human model i've ever started on.
Its coming out very well right now... Umm... Maybe not very fitting for NS, but who knows <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->


<b><i>The basic Story</i></b>

<i>These strange creatures landed somewhere on the earth, back in 2061. First people was afraid. Then they studied them... They seemed friendly enough, so a couple of scientists welcomed them to us earthly humans, and into one of our colonies, just as if they were foreign human guests... Then... Something strange happened...
They started to mix in in our human colonies, around the world, and suddently the whole world was flooded with these halfly monstrous creatures. They... Just started to fit in, just as they always had been there.
Then us humans decided to make those "Zarbids*" work for their food, just as well as their possibility to stay here on the earth... They became "super-soldiers"... </i>

YaY, finally finished (wit the the prologue)... BTW: the story was made in about 2 mins... Maybe i'll correct the grammar tomorrow, and continiue on the story... But not now!     I certainly wouldn't send my troops in wearing nothing but a belt and a pair of speedos, super-soldiers or not.

    like a leotard... well... i suggest that when it comes to making the body u give him an armor vest (with bits that cover the shoulder, groin and neck) and just give him sum goggles on his head with maybe a mic

    heyz he sort of looks like BOO from dragon ball z ? if u put armour on him then he would look very s3xc ^^
    then make the aliens creatures from the same planet but they are intended of killing them thats why they left and came to eath

    I think those are some very optimistic estimations. The arms look like they are going to be more detailed than the legs. Factor in hands and if you want to do fingers, which you probably might, you're looking at 500 per arm.

    Go ahead and keep working on it, don't let me stop you. I'm just trying to be helpful. I used to use this modelling technique and I didn't like it, because it is just too inefficient. You're going to have a model in the end anyway, and sure you can use it in game just the same.

    Hey fellas... Model finsished... Yay... Not... Its way to hi-poly right now... I just cant get that count down without making the model look fugly... Is there any experienced modeler out there willing to get a challenge? (I must say that it will be a hard one...). Of cource you (the "chosen" one) would be credited as much as possible...

    What about you, Psycho-Kinetic Hyper-Geek? Or Burncycle (are you danish???)...? Or... Come on... Pleeease? I also cant skinmesh yet so if you have the time (and the skills, the model is, as i see it, very non-skinning-friendly...) for this model, then just ask for the model (PM), and i'll give it to you...

    Im warning you all, the model was not originally made for a game, so, as i said earlier, its very hi-polied...

    It's not quite as simple as that, Owen... You need cut polies off the model <i>without</i> making it look fugly
    (at least in my thoughts its like that...),
    so i cant just show you a pic, and then get suggestions on where to shave polies of, then shave em off and lastly release a perfect model... It's quite more complex....

    The thing i could need (or really wish for) is an experienced modeler, which has the skills (time?) to do the "shaving" of the model... <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    The model is available on his webspace there. I took a look at it. It looks pretty cool, but too many unnecessary polys. For example, the stomach is practically flat. It could have been reduced to maybe 6 tris, but it is done with 30 or more. I've tried simply putting it through lith unwrap's optimize, but that only took off 38 tris.

    I think you've got a great eye for this modelling thing, nerdie. The model looks great, but maybe you should look into low poly modelling techniques. Either looking for tips online, or just thinking about it yourself. I know ollj posted some tips somewhere in these forums, maybe you should dig it up.

    I'm not the one to talk to about reducing polies. Hell, my Zerg Drone had about 2600 I believe, and my convertion of the Doom 3 Marine has about 5000.
