<div class="IPBDescription">Level 2</div>I thought it would be cool if the Level 2 got more RPs than the usual lump sum every 10 seconds if they were the builder of the resource nozzle sucker. I mean that the Level 2 that built the sucker would get say 15 RPs per 10 seconds as opposed to the 10 RPs that the rest of the team would get. This would encourage aliens to evolve into Level 2s and expand the alien control of the map. Of course you would get aliens that try to attack friendly suckers and replace it with their own; this would only be possible if FF was on for alien buildings, which I think would be unlikely.

    For a while, in the first few tests, I actually thought this was the case. However, I learned with time that lvl2s get the same as everyone else. Lvl 2s are typically the most resource demanding class of them all because they can always find soemthing to spend it on (you can never have too many offense chambers . .heh heh). Therefore, they are constantly hungering for RPs and most learn to aggresively seek out nozzles quickly. Plus, you can feel the difference in RP flow notably when you add another node. I would be all for it, but I don't see it as a problem yet that it shoudl warrant any coding changes.

    When marines place a resouce sucker down it adds them to the team pool.

    When an alien sets one down it only goes for that alien.

    Am I reading that correctly?

Lemme state it clearer. Every alien receives the same amount of rps, which are divided amongst them after being harvested. The argument FOR additional rps for builders was that it would encourage them to seek out nodes more. My response: No need to worry, because you can already feel a marked improvement in resource flow with a new node and builders are always rp hungry, so they are driven to expand in order to convert as many rps to alien structures as possible. <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

    Can you still be a Level 2 and <i>not</i> build? Or does he have hardly any combat skills, and it's better off just jumping to Level 3?

    So there's no individual incentive for aliens to kill, but there IS a team incentive?

    Btw, is there anything in place to prevent this from causing slippery slope type gameplay?  Or uh, a positive feedback loop.  Whatever you want to call it. :P

    I mean, don't game mechanics of this type give the team that's already winning an unnatural and unneeded boost?

    Cyanide just described an individual incentive.  Higher score = faster gain of resources, if I read that correctly.

    I dont think thats the way it works dan. I think i read somewhere that each alien has their individual RP pool. It changes according to how many kills they have etc. Im not sure, but i also think that the aliens also have maybe a general shared RP pool which lvl 2 aliens can use?

    Not entirely sure about that, but i do remember a PT saying that they acquired RPs for themselves only if they killed more people etc. If they dint have this, whats to stop some guy who just sits at spawn all the time waiting for their team to get RPs and when they have just enough, he goes and gets his guy upgraded to a lvl 5?

    Think about it this way, If a level 1 who's doing horribly wanted to go level 5 but they didnt have near enough rp's, and level 2 got rps faster, then they could just go level 2 then gain rps super fast, then go level 5 as soon as they have enough..... hence it could (and probably would) become a horrible exploit.

    To my understanding, every member of the alien team gets the same amount of RPs in a lump sum every ten seconds. The more suckers there are, greater the lump sum is. I don't know what the deal is with killing of marines though. What I propose, just to clarify, is that the more suckers any alien builds the more RPs it gets relative to the rest of the team.

    The kill for RP feature is gone, due to the fact that it allowed for turtling.  You now get your rp from building towers on nodes.  For marines, it is pooled together.  For aliens, it is spilt among all the members evenly.  Subject to change however.

    No... aliens are the deathmatchy race, if anyone were suppossed to turtle (which theyre not, hence no mannable turrets or turtling weapons) it would be the marines since theyre weaker in strength.

    I think the idea is kewl real kewl. I have told people not to start a new topic in my posts to, they never listen. Dragonsblade does it all the time, starts a whole new topic in some ones topic then we have people talkin about one topic and the others talkin about the real topic.

    I used to never use correct grammer but now I know how. Dragon you just dont get it, you are supposed to use periods, commas, and other things like that. Punctuation will help you, so that people can understand you better.     Just because marines need teamplay doesnt make them weaker.  Remember that when you hive is over run by the weaker class in a few weeks ...
