Allegiance now free for anyone to play
Hiya folks,
Some of you might remember that I was setting up accounts for those who wanted to play Allegiance a few months ago, since back then we had a rather restrictive sign-up system. For about a month or so, we have switched over to automated account creation, and this new system is finally out of beta. All you need to do is create an account and download the launcher software and the game if you don't have it and that's it.
For those who don't know, Allegiance is a multiplayer-only, teamwork-based space combat simulator with an RTS-like command component similar to, if a bit more involved than, the marine commander role of NS. It's abandonware and can be downloaded through our website. We have a modest player-base of a few hundred people, with the typical game sizes ranging from 20 players to about 50 players at prime-time, lasting between half an hour to one hour or even longer. For more information, see http://www.alleg.net

A few months back Flayra was trying to get someone to vouch for him so he could join Allegiance online.
Did the whole helpline forum thing and until they start using different ports, im !@##!ed
I propose we all put [NSF] In front of our names
I was absolutely slobbering over my keyboard when I read what this game had to offer - and I cant play the bloody thing - just listen to people raving about it
(edit)
And I play through my NAT just fine. I followed the instructions, and it was happy and good to go.

It's just alphabet soup to those who don't understand 'Resource Tower', 'Phase Gate', 'Turret Factory', that you can electrify resource towers, and that a fatty is a Gorge, the Kharaa builder evolution.
Though I'm still working toward more confusion in calling PGs Pigs over voicecomm.
And now, we're going to do it again, sweet.
Um....you got a bugged version. There IS NO disc 2, even in the retail version(which I happen to have).
Anyone know of any games? I can't seem to find any...
Depends what the ships look like though, hehe.
*Router setup is fairly simple, you need to have ports 2300 to 2400 open for inbound TCP/UDP and you are set. If you use a utility called DXPort you can reduce this to 11 ports. If you are behind a campus firewall or such that you can't control, then you may not be able to play.
*The disk 2 error is for the patch I believe? It does that on some systems, but you don't need the patch. It's for CD installations only.
*It's a difficult game, no doubt about it. But then it's most rewarding because of its subtleties. The guide should be much clearer if you printout the glossary of terms, also on the same page at docs.alleg.net.
*You will be mostly useless to the team for your first few days of play. However, we fully expect and tolerate that - newbies are tagged with a number that shows the number of weeks they've been playing for which tells us they are newbies and should be expected to act like one. The problem with "no help" is mostly because most games are fairly intense especially at opening time and it's difficult to spare the time to help a newbie without screwing the team over. But if you luck out and end up on the winning team, you should be able to get plenty of help. The newbie guide has a "what to do" section that should help.
*Feel free to email me or holler for help if you see me in game.
Lets get this set up
