Red Sox fans are so much better then Yankee fans.

-New Yorkers jump back and forth between the Yankees and the Mets. Whichever one is doing better gets the attention and the love. From birth, New Englanders are married to the Red Sox, and by God, you'll stay faithful or you'll lose an eye.

-We enjoy our wins. Yankees fans are all, "Oh, we won again. Great." Red Sox fans are like, "YEAH! YOU LIKE THAT A's? SUCK IT DOWN! WOO!"

-We drink more by the third inning then Yankee fans do all game.

-We view left field as a position of honor. If you play left field, you damn well better be outstanding. We won't have anyone besmirch the position of Ted Williams and Yaz.

-Nomar is a much better name then Derek.

-When there was talk of moving the Sox out of Boston, we shut that down. <i>Quick</i>.

-When a BoSox defects to the Yankees, it's perfectly acceptable to throw things at the traitor. In fact, we encourage it. We recommend beer bottles of Sam Adams and Guiness and Duracell C-cell batteries, the official battery of surly Red Sox fans. When we run out of batteries and beer bottles, remember, there's no vengence like angry mob vengence.

Since the Marlins will never do anything usefull in Baseball, ever (yes, I hail from SF) ,and I can't STAND the Yankees, I'll root for the Sox. Plus, not a championship won since 1918? I don't believe in "The Curse", but ****. I'll root for them, watch them win, and then suddenly half of the entire North East has one thing less to **** about. But then again, when you look at 86', you don't feel instilled with much Red Soxs confidence. GLOVE TO THE GROUND, I learned that in PAL, for christ's sake.

I spit on the so-called Boston 'Curse'. They won in 1918 - they Cubs have not won the world series since 19<b>08</b>. To quote Cartman, 'Quit yer b****in"!

why are the yankees hated THAT badly?

do new yorkers need to be attacked AGAIN for people to be friendly with them again?

(YES, in a bout of extreme cynicism i'm citing 9-11)

    gawd.

i've actually never encountered this. SF'ers caress their giants, but they're not ragging all over NY..

Way to go Sox! Wakefield's knuckleball was really on last night - looked like that old Bugs Bunny baseball cartoon ("Here's my twistah bawwl... 1-2-3 you're out, 1-2-3 you're out, 1-2-3 you're out"). And that monster Ortiz shot was insane - 3rd deck!

No let up in tension! We pull one back to make it 2-2

"A bit of history that suggests the series could swing in Boston's favor: The Yankees had won five straight one-run decisions in LCS play, their last loss coming in Game 2 of the 1980 ALCS against Kansas City. Since the start of the '98 postseason, they are 17-4 in one-run games. Their previous three one-run defeats came in series they would go on to lose, the last being the 2001 World Series against Arizona...................But the series is now assured of returning to New York, as a best-of-three tournament."

    <i>-Boston.com</i>

    C'mon you Sox <!--emo&::asrifle::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='asrifle.gif'><!--endemo-->

Old men that <i>attack</i> them. Way to try to play the victim.

By the way, in case you were wondering, the groundskeeper (who works as a special ed teacher during the day) is ok, and has been released from the hospital. Boston police said that they will wait until after the series to file their summons against Jeff Nelson and Karim 'If someone hits me, I'm going to hit <i>everyone</i>' Garcia (who tore his hand open punching the guy in the mouth <i>while</i> he was pinned to the ground).

I'm sure you were worried about him, too.

But any how, both teams got back on track last night. Great game, no theatrics. Just the way it should be.

Did anyone else look at that pitch to Garcia and think it actually hit his bat and not his back? The way that ball shot straight up, combined with the fact Garcia did not start walking to first immediately, makes me think he got a free pass undeservedly. I'm not defending Pedro, since he obviously meant to hit him... just curious as to whether he actually did or not. Garcia wasn't going to question the ump's call, considering that was a pivotal moment in the game, however none of the commentators calling the game questioned it, either. I only saw one angle... if they showed another angle it might have shown how the ball hit the bat and not his back.

    [edit]

    Go Cubs!!

He is an old man, you dont throw him down, yeah Pedro is the victim shooting off his mouth, he could barely speak english. It looks like the Boston Red Sox just went to some country like Brazil, or Columbia kidnapped Pedro to have a chance at winning.
