    LOL
anyways, the nightvision is a good idea, good for those naughty dark rooms where all the aliens hide <!--emo&:p--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'><!--endemo-->, or good for those with old monitors that makes the games look darky.....

Night vision could be kool but since it is the future there would probly be good nightvision taht doesnt make it impossible to see when u fire your gunz and uhmental laps... ya but hten it would remove some of the scarienes

I like it but I have to go with Tomodachi, most first person view games make terrible nightvision.

every game that ive played that has nightvision has good nightvision. but thats me i dont really know what real night vision is like so i cant really say if its bad or not.

and if you do have nightvision can we name it Conan vision or Cvision hehe that would be fun...for me

/me thinks of a situation using conan vision

Ok fellas there is a dark room comming up turn on you pattented Conan Vision.......hahahhaha id love that

As long as it gives the green touch, isn't that effective, blinks sometimes, looks warn out.

since were tryin to be unique here, instead of night vision, we could have "heat vision" which is the same thing but red instead of green <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo-->

Aliens Vs Predator implimented night vision extremely well imho

As marines, you could either have the motion tracker OR the nightvision goggles.

As Aliens, you either saw the warm glow of human flesh (ooherrrr), or you could see in the really dark vents and corridors.

And the Predator had 4 different vision modes, normal, 1 for humans (heat), one for alien (chemical?) and one for the predator (electrical?).

NS could implement something similar, but hopefully not directly rip it off <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

and we will call it Conan vision!!!!

or we will have it detect the chemicals of Conan only and no one will ever use it...

About those AvP statments, you wernet to far off the mark. Mariens had nightvision or motion tracker, aliens could see the pheremones emitting from everything but synthetics plus the wonky navigation mode which made dark places bright, but you could see little else, and predetors could use heat vision(Humans) Electrical vision(Xenomorphs/Aliens) and PredTech mode for seeing other predators <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

For some reason, Night Vision and Flashlight really lag my system. I hope if it is implemented, it is in a non-laggy way. Man, Flayra is on a newb-posting-spree!

What's harder to code anyways? A nightvision HUD or a infra-red HUD? The only game I played that had nice Nightvision and Infra-red was Global Operations.

I'd never use it, but as long as it actually has a use I'm all for it.  Personally, I've never found a use for the night vision in CS, other than to run around making annoying clicking sounds.

Flayra's Overmind.org laser concept was basically a target identifier. If it had line of sight to an alien, it would point in it's direction, casting a thin red beam that put a bright red dot on it. This also works on cloaked aliens. It does light (were talking <b>light</b>) constant damage(like a <b>real</b> laser would).

I'd love to walk into a room and have this thing cast a red dot in a dark corner. Then the dot would move and a [quotation fingers] <i>skrunk</i> [/quotation fingers] would jump out and fly for your head.

Or better yet, it points up near the ceiling and casts a dot in mid air taht pulsates up and down. With the invisable [quotation fingers] <i>lerk's</i> [quotation fingers] breathing. "You can't see me!" he says. Poor fool.

This is way off topic, but does anyone remember the nightvision from Deus Ex?  Ugh.  You were better off just stumbling around in the dark.  Weird that they messed that up in such an otherwise godly game.

for the love of od leave the names out of this <i>shudder</i> but real nightvision isnt very fuzy but the games think it is so the make it imposible to see not to mention not being able to see to the left or right but we have flashlights...i jsut hope that there isnt a big aura around the user of flashlights *remembers cs* <i>shudder</i> its cold here

Dollars to donuts says that the official nickname will never catch on.  I think Flayra will just have to grit his teeth and deal with having his menacing lurker alien called by the most mundane name in the western world. :)

to get back on topic, i think nightvision is not needed. The maps are 'not dark, only a dark-feeling'... in cs, when do you use the nightvision? nevar! (only in the tunnel of militia mayb)... so its a lot of coding but doesnt add anything. And, if there is a total-dark corner, there still is no problem, because thats where aliens SHOULD hide.. why make the alien have less hiding spots?

however, a good flashlight would be cool, because it gives the marines a way to check out dark spots, but also gives the marines a disadvantage of using it and being more visible... all in balance i would say

I started a thread about this in ideas some time ago...some guys managed to get some pretty cool things going, like a box or a bar of nightvision in the center of the screen, while the rest is normal, to tone down on the capability of marines to see aliens no matter how dark a place they hide in. I dunno if heat vision would work. The aliens would have to give off heat and have metabolisms first. And I dunno if that's true for NS. Since the aliens are quite mysterious in their workings and origins, that is

hehe /me pets the forest spirits (sry can't help it)

ok, first off I have a Q, can aliens see in the dark? do humans always show up as blotches (so that if a human is in a dark corner can an alien in the same room see him, or only ones in other rooms?
personaly I think that if the humans get some way of seeing in the dark I think that aliens should also (preferably infravision)
now as for marines, there are 3 posible things
    1) ifravision also (ehh, I like to think of all aliens as cold blooded thus, it wouldn't work (atleast not SF wise))
    2) Nightvision (posable, but I think that it would be to powerful)
    3) motion senser
2 ways of doing this 1 is like the aliens hive mind, I don't like this, the other would be a beep beep that speeds up as an alien aproaches and also gives a general direction of the movement (and arrow on your HUD) personaly this is the one I perfer (it will point out where aliens are with out compleatly destroying all of their stealth, also it sorta adds to the flavor of the game ;D)
