<div class="IPBDescription">Description and screenshots</div> There's a new spectator UI in NS v2.1! Here are some important things to know about it:
- It's more simple, informative and easier to use then the old UI.
- HLTV overview maps have been discarded, and are no longer a part of NS maps. We use the NS minimap instead.
- When connected as a HLTV spectator, this UI shows all information about players and structures on the whole map! When spectating while connected to the server, you see entities just on your team, or just the team of the person you're spectating.
- No more confusing picture-in-picture options or hard to use modes, just a couple options to get you the view you need.
- The new UI should be great for match commentators and referees, as it allows easy viewing of the whole map. The targetted player can be changed easily with a pop-up box, instead of cycling through players.
- Regular non-overview mode is supported, and the UI shrinks to fit a snazzy letterbox format.
Thanks for the hard work Max! This UI will be part of NS v2.1. Enjoy!

Will I be able to spectate players in first person mode and have the minimap shrunk in the corner?
EDIT: One more question I just thought of. Does it save spectator settings? I get really annoyed when I have to keep setting it to first person everytime I go into spectator mode.
Best addition to spec/HLTV would still be spec'ing com mode, if its possible. I hope =\
edit: Just an idea: instead of leaving that black space in screenshot 1, how about putting a scoreboard under the ingame viewport that allows you to see team scores, as well as click on any player to instantly change to spec them.
From the text it sounds all a bit weird, but with those screenshots it looks awsome, nice and clean <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> Nice work <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
Only downside is I quite liked the old overhead maps, the coloured ones, could there be an option to choose which map you use? Or will we just have to settle with custom sprites, or somesuch... <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->
Edit: Agies knows where its at, that addition would be perfect. Nice for refs and the such, easy to jump around the map and easily see who's winning.
and whats happening with this suprise for constellation members <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->?
Yeah, stick a scoreboard or something in the blank space in #1 and 3
If you join a game and go spec, will it show all the buildings and players for both of the teams, or just show up for one?
Max
Quick jumps to the three hives and indicators if they're built and what upgrades are linked to them... Perhaps a quick-select for marine/alien under attack messages?
How far marines are on researching, and well.. any other stats which it might be fun to access like that.
Of course, you'd probably have to use a tabbed dialog to have room enough for all that.
I really like this. Now it wouldn't be such a pain to spectate games. Yknow you always be scrolling between players like a mad man to see the whole picture. And I think that the old HLTV overviews were kind of useless so I won't miss em.
great work so far
-Is commander mode spectating possible?
-Did you fix the ammo bug when spectating? (It always shows that marines have about 3 bullets and no reserve)
indeed
but why isent the first person view not like the original as player (hive status and upgrades)??
and how about opening 2 little windows for watching tha match... in the first and the last screen there is a space free whre it can be placed... if it works with the hadware it would be nice watching 2 players a once ^^ ecspecially when they are fighting each other you could watch the fight from both views (alien AND rine) <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
