You sure what you saw wasn't Just a Oldsmobile 442.
Becuase only 500 of these were made, They were exclusive models of 1969, cool looking. AND the 1972 OMG ugly mother car.
The car is a 442 with a custom body, Ram air system, like nearly 400 horses stock. nice lil spoiler and Exclusive enterior.
OMG I remember I went to a ruinon show of this car and since the car was only made in 1 color gold and white,
Every Show car looked THE EXACT SAME!!! OMG had to have been the most boring car show ever. The one that
GOt best of show had the ORIGINAL TISSUE BOx IN THE GLOVE FROM 1969!!

Actually, IIRC a concept bike was made to match the Akira bike. It was actually ridden for almost a quarter mile before a crazed mob of otaku pulled it down and tore it to pieces, each carrying off their own little segment. Nobody remembers if the rider was uninjured or not.

I'd have to say that what'll appeal to most American buyers is that it has the stylings of an SUV, crammed down into a sedan-dimension car. Personally, I'd prefer it much more if the front end WEREN'T going for the Dodge Truck: Flattened look. Heck, didn't they use the name 'Magnum' on one of their trucks in the past?
I'll admit, I appreciate the effort to 'trick' those who would lean toward buying an SUV into getting a regular-freaking-car-as-they-don't-need-an-SUV, I dislike SUV stylings almost as a backlash from dealing with being literally walled in by them all day, every day, in traffic.

The car pictured above is in fact a 1969, not a 1967. 1969 was the first and only year to have quad headlights if you dont count the shelby models. (low beams for the outside lamps, high beams for the inside lamps) 1969 is also the year that the mustang became truly "performance orientated" with such introductions as the Boss 302 and the baddest mustang ever, the Boss 429. Ford never came out with a mustang with more power until the introduction of the supercharged 2003 Cobra, which puts out slightly more horsepower, but not nearly close to the 450 ft/lbs of torque that the boss 429 put out. I'll be quiet with my random facts about mustangs for now <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'>
