<div class="IPBDescription">5 Marine, 5 Alien</div> Alien Rules:
1: Marines are Yummy
2: Grenades are not
3: Marines love to be parasited <!--emo&::skulk::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/skulk.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='skulk.gif'><!--endemo--> & webbed <!--emo&::gorge::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/pudgy.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='pudgy.gif'><!--endemo--> - make them happy
4: They also like being Digested - again, make them happy <!--emo&::onos::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tiny.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tiny.gif'><!--endemo-->
5: Chuckle whenever you make a kill <!--emo&::fade::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/fade.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='fade.gif'><!--endemo-->
6) Marines love it when you cloak early in the game - playing hide & seek with marines is pretty funny, especially when they start shooting the walls and you're right behind them taking the cookies out of their pockets...
7) Marines love it when you hunt them down in packs - remember, people make the party!
8) A lone marine loves it even more
9) It warms a marine's heart when you just won't die when you are a Onos <!--emo&::onos::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tiny.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tiny.gif'><!--endemo-->
10) When you are done playing with your new marine meat, round out every meal with an IP.

Marine Rules:
1: Shoot first, ask questions when they respawn <!--emo&::asrifle::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='asrifle.gif'><!--endemo-->
2: If it has more than 2 legs - shoot it <!--emo&::asrifle::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='asrifle.gif'><!--endemo-->
3: If it has 2 legs - shoot it and check the blood color
4: Red = oops <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&::marine::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/marine.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='marine.gif'><!--endemo-->
5: Green = keep shooting <!--emo&::fade::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/fade.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='fade.gif'><!--endemo-->
6) Mines are good when placed somewhere else other than where you are currently standing
7) Make sure to take a buddy along when you are going for a stroll, you wouldn't want to get lost!
8) Aliens love it when they have to travel down long hallways when you are at the other end using both pistol and rifle - variety is the spice of life!
9) Loading up on ammo and weapons isn't as much fun as using them*
10) Aliens love to be greeted early in the game with a bunch of marines owning shotguns - it makes them feel special that you let them get close and go all out up close and personal.

*** To quote a friend of mine: (imagine this in a Drill seargent voice) "YOU **** RINES KILL ANYTHING THAT'S GOT MORE THAN 2 LEGS YOU HEAR ME???!!?!?!"
(He likes space marine movies WAY to much.)

*If only people acted like this was true... For those of you who don't know, this is called humping the armory. It is generally frowned on by commanders, and also, carrying more ammo slows you down.

    I'm just curious but does anyone know how to set it up so that you chuckle immediately after you get a kill without pressing a button. Kind of like a script but not harmful to gameplay. If not, what is the console command for this, I'd like to bind this to a button. Using the menu system is too cumbersome mid-battle.

    Oh and love the Rule sheet Mech. Too bad you can't <b>throw</b> us permagorges a bone or two. **Hint Hint - Wink Wink**

    Heh, I should probably return his phone calls.

    As far as chuckle goes, I have used it twice I think. It probably won't get old for a while for me. Unless I start killing 5 odd marines in a row... LOL not that that would happen as a gorge. Unless...

    I'm pretty sure you can't auto-chuckle when you kill someone. You'll just have to bind it to a key and do it that way (unless I've been missing something big when it comes to HL scripting).
  • IceBaronIceBaron Join Date: 2003-02-25 Member: 13954Members
    I could tell you there is NO way to auto chuckle after a kill. Just like there is no auto spray or auto anything after a kill. Everything works on binds and scripts, they are based on your input, not the results of your input. In other words, there is no way for a script to know you just killed somebody.
  • Soylent_greenSoylent_green Join Date: 2002-12-20 Member: 11220Members, Reinforced - Shadow
    There are 2 ways to auto-chuckle after you make a kill. One is to code a program to hook into the client dll like cheating death(anti cheat), various cheats and things like HLamp does.

    Kind of silly to go through a huge amount of trouble for something you probably can't use on VAC servers(you can't use CD or HLamp on vac servers because they behave similar to cheats but they don't do anything naughty, unlike cheats).

    Another more reasonable way is for someone to code a server plugin that makes aliens auto chuckle whenever they get a kill, but that would probably require you to run the server yourself since most will just find it annoying... I think... <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Chuckle will never get old though, it acctually serves a purpose. I've made more than a few of my friends new to NS **** their pants when they <i>know</i> I'm nearby but <i>don't</i> know where the hell I am. I like the web thing though. I love it when I can play around with marines caught in my web trap. Health spray them to death, spit on them, or just let those nasty OC spikes take care of the dirty business. It's true, while it may seem like the Gorge's get all the action (Gorge's Gone Wild) it's really the Onos (Oni, Onones, Onis?) that has all of the fun. *Sigh* I'm gonna go and try to organize another Gorge rush... <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.natural-selection.org/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Chuckle is a two edged sword.

    on the plus side, it can freak out marines. on the down side, it can ruin the element of surprise. if you chuckle, the marines will ask for a scanner sweep to see where you are. If the squad is just moving through the map, dont chuckle, just attck them from behind. if the squad is looking into every corner, only chuckle if you are extremly well hidden. I hardly use chuckle at all

    Not possible under HL's scripting system. Is possible with Tribes.

    Very true: chuckle is a two edged sword. I recommend it against newbies - it is hilarious to see 6 marines all run back to base when 1 cloaked gorge chuckles in a seemingly empty room. But battle-hardened vets will just ping the room and proceed to give you lots of gifts made of lead*. Use it at your own risk.

    *for those of you who don't get this joke, I mean bullets. In other words, said vets will blow various limbs off. That hurts, by the way. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

    True, true...

    Remember one particular event on a map (not sure which one, had Sewer, Ventalation, and Aux Gen hives though) we were down to one hive and we were obviously going to lose. I went gorge on a rafter just outside of the marine controled double res and I had a skulk for backup.

    I was up there to build an outpost for a possible attack but the ledge was too close to the ceiling so I just stayed up there to do some recon on marine movement. Me and the skulk were watching marine after marine go down this hallway so we decided to have some fun with them. We both chuckled like crazy and had about 4 marines searching that area.

    After about a minute of that we got cocky and started to spit/parasite the marines down on the groud and they eventually found out we were up there. They ran off and me and the skulk started laughing a bit and then we hear a horrible noise... a jetpack. We look out and here comes a jp'er popping up over the edge of the rafter with a shotty in hand. After a second of stunned silence *BOOM* he blasts that skulk apart in one shot and slowly turned towards me. I was like oo.... ****, but for some reason he dropped off the ledge and flew away even though I <i>knew</i> he <i>knew</i> I was there.... Later, in the readyroom, after the aliens got torn apart I asked him why he spared me. He said it was because he "liked me". Not really sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing...

    Anyways, the thing new players should learn from this is that if you're looking for marine sympathy, go gorge ASAP. <!--emo&::gorge::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/pudgy.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='pudgy.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Yeah that will get the pubbers to gorge for sure, because they don't want to get wasted 24/7. (Not that I should talk...)

    Wow, I've never been spared by a marine like that before. I can't tell if that is a good thing or not either. It's like the kind of response you would expect to get when approached by somebody like "Animal Mother" from <i>Full Metal Jacket</i>, basically, an indistinguishable merger of being creeped out and gratefulness.

    Yea, that should pretty much sum it up, I think he didn't really "spare" me though in hindsight. (sp?) I may be afraid for the rest of my NS playing time now knowing that I owe my life to marine who "likes" me. *Shiver*

    Another rule of thumb for the internet in general. You should <i>never</i> trust anyone you haven't meet, even if they "like you". *Shifty eyes*
