<div class="IPBDescription">For Newbies and Advanced players</div> Hello everyone. It's just a few time that I read with great interest the topics on NS forums, and especially the strategy topics. But I didn't really find what I wanted: how to play a commander. I tell you, I am bad at commander chair, because Marines want to win then you need a good commander.
So I don't commander and only play soldier. But I really want to be commander and developpe strategical game. I tried to find something which could help me and other newbies to become good comm. Too difficult because of the great diversity of the topics. One topics speak about strategy on ns_lost, one other speak about how to use shotgun and jetpack, etc.
What I want in this topic is to developpe how to organize troops, how to build effeciently structures, how to take advatage on the enemy. I post this topics to allow experienced players to explain the role and possibilty of the commander. And to allow the newbie to become more effective when they play as commander.

Could we compile all threads with regard to comming hints into one thread then get an admin to sticky it and place it in both this forum and the newbie forum?

cant beat experience ... get in there and comm!!
Knowing the strategies is good, but ya gotta be able to implement it, and what looks great on paper may turn out very different in game

I think that most of people (read - newbies <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->) fell fear of going to cc. In 1.04 version if someone voted to eject commander, the guy in cc was automaticly kicked of server <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->. It's good now because ns creators deleted this option <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> and new poeple starts to "command" <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->.

The ns creaters haven't removed the eject command vote; it is still in v2.0x. I have never seen a commander automatically kicked off a server when he was eject from the chair in v1.04.

My first and most important rule I always memorise when going in the CC, is knowing your marines: their weaknesses, their best weapons, all their skills...
This way, I can sometimes double my marines performance by giving them their favourite task and know who I shall give a gun and who not...
My second rule is to give up when I fail to conquer a location. If so, I mostly seal it off or start fighting qn undefended location...
My third rule is to keep my marines happy. Like all warriors over history, they got payments for a job. If somguy gets a whole fade, you can be certain he shall get his weapons. And if I don't got no res, I shall give them attention, so they know I'm there caing about their fate.

Okay, that's enough, but I also want to share a quite succesfull tactic: Dividing my troops in groups. The first group are for 60-70% experienced marines. They are the ones constantly fighting at the front.
A second team, who do nothing else then conquer each res node. Here I put the less-skilled, but also one very skilled player.
My last team exist of the rambo's. Most of the time, it's just one skilled player who gots the objective to roam the map and keep me informed.
