If you read anywhere in the past week, you would understand, one option is a monthly subscription to HL2 multiplayer, which is pay to play essentially then. But, if you buy the full game, you get unlimited access to multiplaye that it comes with and any free mods.
The difference comes in when if you go on the per month payment, any new official addons that come out, you immediately get access to, so if something like Opposing Force came out, you would get access to it. Wheras if you bought the full game, like you did HL1, and then Opposing Force came out, then you buy it seperately and gain all unlimited online access to it.

If you absolutely must no my opinion on the matter...here it is. $10 monthly, $120 per year, essentialy 3 games per year. Within the first year or so of subscription you will get HL2, CS:CZ, TF2, possiblyCS2 and a good deal of content updates and so on. For the first year it is a bargain...Just wanna play through HL2 SP once or twice, well if you can do that in 1,2 or even 3 months...you save yourself a shitload of money! Now, on the otherhand, if they dont release any games for 6 months at a time, well, you lose out.
If you want to discuss it further, please open another thread, dedicated to that purpose, or PM me.
