Brightness

Everytime my NS gets minimized, usually due to pop ups of some sort, I have to open task manager and stop NS because if I just maximize it, my computer freezes. Well, if I do this, the brightness setting that NS makes sticks with me even if the game isn't playing. Is there a way to fix this?

sure, but you have to do it manually.

in your NS folder there is a small .exe file:

    half-life\ns\ResetGamma.exe

I made a shortcut to this on my desktop and after my gamma is hosed I just double click and gamma is restored. It's a pain but at least I don't go blind.

You can also go into the video settings, once you start NS, and work with the gamma setting to set it closer to what your desktop is so that when/if it hoses up it's close if not the same as your existing gamma. Not perfect for NS play but another workaround.

Actually, I work late at night, but as for not doing any work, cranking out NS/steam integration patches does take a bit of work. I'm trying to get more players into NS under steam as right now people seem to be holding off.

Right now I'm trying to see how many of these patches/issues can be solved server side.

    yah, resetgama = nice toy

however you should also go about fixxing this problem in the first place

the basic rule of HL is close EVERYTHING when you wana play, specialy IMservices

if you are getting other popus sounds like spyware or something, do a google for ad aware <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

Ad aware sucks. AdSubtractPro is where it's at. It's free, and in 30 days when the trial version runs out, put your clock back 30 days and BAM, it's like you never had it.

Actually, I wouldn't mind if no one came back to play NS. I'm liking playing with the same people most of the time. Made some new friends, met some cool people. For the losers that can't get Steam to work, poo on em.

congrats that was compleatly UNCONSTRUCTIVE!!! you win the prize!

look, I don't care what spyware software tou use, but reseting your clock is a silly thing, well atleast for those of us who actualy care what day it is.

As for ussesless spam about how you and your 'friends' are better then those people who havn't gotten steam to work yet

    GROW UP!

infact this post has nothing to do with steam.

<a href='http://security.kolla.de' target='_blank'>Spybot S&D</a> is completely free and does the best job removing spyware/adware IMO.

I know it's sorta OT but this thread was hijacked anyway so I figured I'd pitch in.
