Bast Strat

modified vent siege engine strat
Ive found a way to siege engine practically from base....

if this fails.. you lose the siege cannons... not a turret factory also...

The turret factory is placed in the corner of your base.. and upgraded to siege tech.... from there have three marines get into the vent at the elevator at bast... and crawl through docking hydraulics and into the vent around engine.. drop three sieges and have each marine build them (you know where.....) then ping...... if the sieges fall before the hive is down.... the tf is still up safe in base.. to re attempt at any later date....

did this three times today on bast..... twice when they tried to onos rush feedwater hive... got the phase down.. but had to retreat to save hive....

If aliens make a push on you.. its a great covert way to get em back...

Plus its less risky than MAKING A TF IN DOCKING HYDRAULICS... because you have the chance to lose less res... while your chance of pulling it off is increased due to less build time by hive....

When NS first came out, you could sige Engine hive from whithin Marine Start. One of the later versions changed this (you can siege their RT though). The alternative was to do as you say, get the TF in base and the sieges either in the vent or just outside Engine, so I think most people who have played NS from the beginning knows about this.

what he is saying is somewhat different. Its what I've done also . He means that the radius of the tf by the corner of your base can reach into the docking hydralics. So, instead of having marines go into the vent and build tf, blah blah upgrade wait. You build tf at base and then upgrade it. As soon as the marine get into the vent, you can drop a siege right away. Its basically the same but saves some time and will **** the aliens off trying to figure where the hell the tf is. When I did it once (back in 1.04) my marine team were so incompetent that a skulk actually ran into our base and took out the tf. Of course, now tf can be electrified...it may be somewhat different.

Another thing you can do on the same map for sieges is to build a tf on top of a tiny ledge right by the rotating doors. You can then drop a siege close enough to hit the feedwater hive in the vent (either the vent by main aft, or the vent above tram tunnel resource) if you done this correctly.

    Change that to:

When NS first came out, you could sige Engine hive with a sige cannon inside Marine Start.

To clarify. I don't think you read my post right.

the joy of this tactic is you can ram a row of turrets in front of your seige and make it very difficult for skulks to get your precious seige cannons......bloody useful for a fast win if the start hive is engine

Try sticking your armory right next to the TF in base. That way you can drop mines and welders directly onto the hot spot.

LOL! As oppose to running two or three yards with mines in hand, eh? LOL

that two or three linear yards turns into about 45 since you must go down an elevator.. hop into a vent.. open the door... crawl through... then into docking.... takes a while.. specially if the lift is down....
