<div class="IPBDescription">or how to not lose a game as 'rines</div> Ok, this is actually from an aliens perspective as I was Kharaa last night. We were on Eclipse(Eclipse, Maintenance, and computer core one) and admittadly it was a disorganized aliens VS organized marines, but anyway. While some of us were harassing maintanence some onos got into marine start and were able to take it down to force a relocation and so they moved to computer core and took down our hive. At the same time we took back maintenance while the relocated. However, we were short on RTs and only 1 hive while the other built. Here came the HA train to Eclipse, the Kharaa were gripped with fear...the marines were blasting down anything that moves(including our onos) on the way to Eclipse and then they entered. The skulks ran around making the HAs waste their ammo and biting at their ankles. Then it happened, the WHOLE squad pulled out their welders to weld each other..the we seized the moment and took down the rest of the HA squad with skulks. Then we proceeded to massacre their efforts in computer core and it was GG.
Moral of the store is don't have your whole team pull out their welders in the Hive, blast it down!
Also, when a skulk is biting at your IPs kill him. I took down both IPs in the middle of their base by myself because well, I don't know why but it shouldn't have happened.

That's the most frustrating thing about being part of public welder crews is that they will NEVER weld you unless you block them and keep trying to weld them in the face for a few seconds. Ofcourse try doing that while they're shooting at something...
The usual procedure for failed HA trains involving me in the squad is that usually I die first due to them being kept fully welded even during combat (and yet I still manage to grab around half the total kills inbetween welds), and then after the only guy who actually knew what his welder was for died (me), the rest of the squad dies within the next minute or two.
Due to this I've started trying to hang around the middle of the pack for added protection, but you still get hurt often enough there that you do need the occasional weld.

Do it AGAIN AND AGAIN,give em NAMES,SHOOT THEIR FACES,MAKE A LIL WELDER DROPPING DANCE.
Threat them to TRACK THEIR IPS DRIVE TO THEIR HOUSE AND KILL THEIR FAMILY USING SADISTIC MERCILESS TORTURE METHODS.
Then SCREAM AND GRUNT LIKE A MADMAN!
Doesnt help *much*,but at least u did express your deepest feelings and Emotions.
The problem with pubs isn't because people don't weld each other, because after all, if there are no aliens around to kill the unwelded marine it shouldn't be hard to keep alive if you travel in a pack. The misconception about welding is that people expect to be welded while in a heavy firefight. This should not happen. Think about half of the marine welding inside a hive. Since more are welding, less skulks are dying so therefore more and more will be welding due to more skulks biting. And there will be a point where your whole team is welding because skulks are biting as you weld. You cannot reload while weld at the same time. Sometimes when a teammate isnt welding you its beacause they're reloading. If you need to be welded, pull back and try not to block your teammate's fire and then request welding in a safer area. In a heavy firefight there should be no reason to have your welder out unless you're out of ammo, or your primary gun is unloaded.
What is the problem with pubs then you ask? Well the problem as I see it is that everyone shoots at the same time. Unless the alien is an ono, there is really no need to have the whole team shooting all at the same time. No not even at hives or any stationary object. Think about it, when everyone shoots at the same time there is alway this window of opportunity that when most of the heavy marines are reloading, a single skulk can take him out. Another words there is no order to the train. If assulting the hive (like underdog said but not necessary a welder duty guy but an ankle biting skulk watcher guy), there should be one or two not firing at the hive and shoot the spawning skulks or be welding teammate. They should keep a near full clip so that when most of your team is reloading you can help them and not watch in dismay as you yourself jumps like a maniac trying to reload.
