Why Do American No Use Cheating Death

EvulALEvulAL Join Date: 2003-05-15 Member: 16341Members, Constellation
Right imm in a european clan and we have been wanting to play american clans 1 map on ours and 1 map on theirs. when they join our server they go can u tuen cd off. if we say no they go ok "match off". About 6 clans have done this to us. Could this be because they CHEAT? well i dont know. . I really wanna play em can anyone explain to me why!

That's rather odd, I would have thought that clans would require that everyone run Cheating Death.

Well, you can be assured that not all Americans don't run it; I'm way the hell over here in Southern California and I've always got it running.

The reason why is because cheating death is annoying as HELL to have to open to have it on a certain server, but then on the next, if you have it on, they won't let you in. Its not because we cheat- its because CD is so f***ing annoying. Just use VAC, now that its supported...

I just keep it running... Why turn it off?

That is just idiotic.

"OMG! I D0N'T CH3@t! CD IS T00 h4RD3 to OP3N N00B! T3H 500Kb F1L3 i5 t0o BiG 4 m3 t0 D0nLO@D!"

If clan play was a real sport, CD would be the same as peeing into a cup to make sure your not on steriods. Sure, its annoying, but it be something you really need to do to so your skills are legitiment.

I've never had a server where i've had to disable CD to play on it. Just leave it running, or make it part of your shortcut to starting the game.

Maybe cuz Americans aren't as paranoid as Euros

Seriously though, I don't understand why other clans make such a big deal about CD. Its a very small download, takes a few seconds to update, and doesn't interfere with VAC atm since VAC isn't supported by NS yet. If the clan you're facing asks you to turn on CD, just humor them. By saying no, all you do is make yourself look bad.

I've actually only seen two players I actually thought had aimbot/wallhack, the rest were just accusations thrown liberally.

Um...A lot of American servers run C-D.

I see no reason to run CD. What I dont understand is why so many people make a big deal about people who dont run it "OMG, YOU DONT HAVE CD, YOUR USING HAX".. No. Grow a brain.

Sometimes i forget to turn on C-D, so i join a server and it kicks me.
or
Sometimes (with autoupdate) it will do the update in the middle of a game and will close my game.

So i dont play with CD servers cause CD is annoying.

Pretty much every server i've seen has been running it. When it first came out there was resistance to it from many players and server ops... but now i only notice it when a server is NOT running cheating death.. and thats very rare.

PS. With regards to the servers i'm looking at, I'm on the westcoast of canada.. a few clicks across the water from Washington state.

I've never had a single problem with cheating death.. i just leave it running 24/7.

Gentlemen, ASE can be set to automagically launch CD when needed and quit it when you leave the server, I'm sure it's not the only game browser to have this feature.

you are right, HLSW also have this feature.

about the autoupdate feature, that can easyli take off, they dont launch a new version every day. you can always see what version the server runs on when you join in, and if you are outdated you can easy download the update.

its a 500kb program, it runs in the background, it can even be minimized to the tray so you dont have to look at it in your main window. it uses no CPU resources, uses only about 2mb of mem.

and its best feature, it gives people comfort that people dont cheat.

btw some of the excouses I have heard for not using CD is that if we dont trust them, we dont deserve to play them (was an amarican clan(NOT saying that all amaricans clans are that way, just some singles))

cheers

Some players complain of lag, update annoyances, and others are just too darn lazy to download and use the thing.

The lag complaint isn't ENTIRELY accurate. But Steam and VAC is about to render it extinct (ooh, natural selection in the process....smacks self).
• CHAMoisCHAMois Join Date: 2003-02-09 Member: 13339Members
They are lazy.

we all downloaded and installed C-D when we played a euro team. Hell I wish people over here used it too.

There is really no reason to not run it. I leave it open all the time and I don't even notice it. I didn't want to at first but now that I have it running all the time I can't tell a difference. And when someone goes OMG BLINK HAX I just say "Nope, I'm running CD see." By not wanting to use it you only make it seem more like you have something to hide.
• TyrainTyrain Join Date: 2003-01-03 Member: 11746Members
The best reason to run CD before Steam was that you could play on nonVAC servers if you're banned for no reason. I hate that damn VAC.
• ThiefThief Ownage Join Date: 2003-08-09 Member: 19214Members, Constellation
Well I play on both servers with CD and without CD req, and when I leave it running and switch servers, and i get disconnected, it is a pain in the @#&.

Also, I am a firm believer that CD doesnt do squat

I run CD all the time. Only time it gets turned off is when im doing something which will hump my memory and processor. I cant commemy about the excuses for people not running it because i have never had any problems with it. what i can say is if you lag because of turning on CD you must either have an old 386 pc to notice it, or a 24 baud modem. Either way lag caused by CD, a program which uses almost no processing power or bandwidth. I dont understand.

Another thing people dont realise is C-D is a whole lot better than VAC at preventing cheating. Yeah so what if VAC bans keys and boots you from the server, cheaters that cheat with a passion have text files filled with cdkeys. (You dont have to believe me but I was given a text file of 350 cdkeys, some of them are banned, some arent even valid. But theres a lifetimes worth right there in a .txt)

C-D Prevents cheats from working and does a good job about it, it doesnt ban keys, it gets the cheater off your server which is what counts. Looking at a popular cheat website (whos IRC I idle in) there are only 2 CD proof cheats right now. 1 is a OGL (openGL, these cheats are very simple and hook openGL functions, hell they are so simple I can write one) and the other is a Nvidia Detonator patch that allows a simple wallhack and lambert. Compare this to the VAC proof hacks (4 for cs1.5, 6 for cs1.6 and 4 for NS) and you will see C-D does a damn more than VAC in cheat prevention.

The website I am using is, in my opinion THE best cheat website and community which is why I idle in their IRC. All the cheats are virus and cd-key stealing tested before they are placed on the website which is also the home to the most popular client hack in HL which initials are MC (Flayra knows what im talking about, hes spoken to the creator about it and banned him from these forums etc).

If you run a server, loose the VAC, get CD if you want to get cheaters off.

As for myself, I dont cheat in NS. I cheat in CS, I rage which means I enjoy **** people off because I hate the game and I hate the community. I go into a server with every exploit, script and hack there is and just ruin everyones fun. I respect NS, its a wonderful game along with others I play like RTCW-ET and would never cheat in it.

Anyone that starts the usual name calling to me now has no life, much like myself you could say for doing what I do in CS. Flame away

I had to confess that to show you that I know what im talking about when I say C-D is a whole lot better than VAC.

I dont think this post needs editing or anything, Ive gone through it and theres nothing that could help anyone interesting in cheating find a source to download one.

Ok, I'm gonna explain myself here, being that NUB(thats right, suyf) insulted me on my VERY RIGHTFUL GROUNDS.

-edit- Before I start, if I'm wrong about having to exit out of HL to close it to get on VAC servers, tell me, straight up. I'll use it permanently, like I used to when all the servers I went to were CD required.

First off, when I was clanning, I was a intense clanner. I'd be server switchin like crazy, and I didn't wanna have to exit out of HL every time just to open a stupid as hell program. I realise CD works better than VAC- thats ALWAYS how it is. 3rd party stuff ALWAYS works better(look at NS ).

But when your server switching like crazy, doing about 5 different servers every 2 minutes, or just wanting to find a good server to play on with your friends, it gets REALLY annoying to have to open and close it every time I want to use it, ESPECIALLY when I can't just minimize HL then turn it on, and have it work good then. No- you've gotta TOTALLY exit out of HL, then start it, and come back. For a computer that takes 30 seconds to start HL(or more sometimes), thats A LOT OF WASTED TIME(usually upwards of a minute), in a process that does do a lot, but it just isn't fast enough for me. Personally, I wish CD would sense when I can't connect to a server because of it, and goes into hibernation for as long as I'm on the server(only requiring a quick retry).

I used to run it ALL THE TIME, until I just didn't have the time from server switching so much so often. I think CD rocks, and while I would use it, I think it just really bites that I've gotta exit HL every time I wanna start a program that is proving that I don't cheat, when people who know me know I don't EVER cheat, and am lethal to cheaters.

So don't just call me a lazy nub. Or anything like that.

Oh, and I would use ASE, but I dun wanna pay....

Er... why you people are switching cd on and off I have no clue. You can just leave cd on and if a server doesn't require it it will just be ignored. If this is not the case for you then YOU are doing something wrong. The only reason for turning cd off on servers that don't require it is if you are cheating.

Well, I never said I was doing NS. I know it works with NS- my problem is that I do A LOT of games. CS, DoD, NS, TS, Steam Versions, you name it, I'm probably playing it(if its good. Monkeystrike=needance of death)

I think its clear now to everyone who reads your posts what your real problem is with cd (anti cheat program anyone??).

Dude, first off, don't make this into a flamewar.

Second, ask ANYONE on ANY of the servers I play on: I don't cheat. I'd NEVER cheat. I'm LETHAL to cheaters that come on my server.

So I'm telling you now, don't get a flamewar started. I am one of the most dedicated members of these forums, and those who have gotten to know me know me as a friend, and ESPECIALLY as someone who doesn't cheat. I play well, and I play fair. My problem with Cdeath(ya, I DO have a problem with it) is that it won't let me connect for any other game than NS. And when did my story change, eh?

And 3 servers a minute isn't exactly impossible. With a good connection and even better processor, 2-3 servers a minute is the usual for someone who goes fast, getting information to different places.

So just don't start a flamewar and make yourself look bad- it doesn't look good for you.

Clan play does not require anti-cheat measures, other than ones the leagues supply (usually in the form of judge-spectators, some leagues are much much more picky), simply because there is a sense of accountability in clan play. If you cheat in a clan game, you get banned from the league, and make your clan look bad and get punished, which probably gets you kicked out of the clan. If the clan condones cheating, it won't stay hidden for long, and you aren't exactly going to play real league games against cheating clans.

VAC is currently still experimental in NS, btw. It will require a client-side patch, anyway, which we have not yet gotten. I believe it is slated for release in 2.1, but that is by no means final.
