Stats Anyone?

Hey! I just upgrading my Hlstats install and thought it is just a waste to have it for only one mod.     What kind of stats would be recorded? How would they be turned into a single rating? I really dont see how you could measure how good someone is at NS.

    maybe it could record the amount of times the enemy team says 'OMG!!!' and 'JOO PWNZOR M3 LOLZERS!!!1!!1!111!' =3

    So far HlStat can only calc death to kills ratio, NS is too complex for HLSTAT to compute who built what, who killed what, etc etc

    Even if it could, theres no way to digest all that information to produce one number called 'skill'. In CS, you have K/D ratio, and some factor relating to times you planted bomb/rescued hostage, etc. Slapping those two together into a useful number isn't too hard. But NS is WAY more complex, and I have no idea how it would be possible to account for the things that really matter in NS.

    that's because NS truely is a team game... unlike CS where a single skilled player can complete the mission against a whole team (we should all know that by now because we've all done it... right? ^^ )

    Personally, I would only ever run public stats for a NS:C server.

    each player needs a structures build/destroyed along with a K:D (that doesnt count for much) and something i like to call total rescount.

    example of this rescount, whenever an alien eveolves or upgrades the number of res used is added up. so lets say you get some upgrades, go lerk, upgrade, die, go fade, upgrade die....... you would accumulate so many res in your total rescount. another example is totaling the res of all the stuff dropped on marines INCLUDING HEALTH / ammo.

    also, commanders and gorges can ge bonuses for doing things for the team, like building hives and getting upgrades / healing aliens / keeping marines alive / building excess upgrade chambers / ersponding to "under attack" messages and answering marine requests.

    the point of this would be to rate how well someone does doing stuff based on how much they res they use to do it and trying to rate teamwork a little too. its better than solid K:D, not that great but its a start.

    I run PsychoStats on my server, and have upgraded it for NS 2.0. The weight of ALL weapons on the Weapon Ranks page is customizable, and I have added many awards on the Award Ranks page (bonus values are also adjustable). Once you understand the program you can tweak it to suit your needs. Also note that kills from turrets and electrified structures, although counted in the stats, all have a weight of 0.
